Amazing vendors filled the showroom floor with eye candy for days. Seriously, I felt as if I was wandering around in a bit of an interior design-drunken stupor. Here's just a small sampling of the pretty . . . <br />

Following my shopping, I had the pleasure of attending the Design Panel Lecture featuring designers Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller of <a href="http://www.carrierandcompany.com/" target="_blank">Carrier and Company</a>, Mary McDonald and Nathan Turner. Robert Leleux was the moderator who kept the questions and laughs flowing. The main discussion revolved around travel and how it affects and informs their designs. All the panelists had different experiences, but agreed that tying in the client's pieces from traveling along with their own trained eye was the best combination. Mary and Nathan are good friends and travel companions who have traveled the globe together and collected not only beautiful things, but hilarious stories as well. They really should write a book.<br />

Afterwards, I had the privilege of interviewing one of the design panelists, Jesse Carrier. To say I was excited is a bit of an understatement, and admittedly I was a bit nervous (I even brought my book <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Carrier-Company-Positively-Chic-Interiors/dp/0865653208/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8" target="_blank">Positively Chic Interiors</a> with me and forgot to get him to sign it . . . such a rookie move).<br />
<i> </i><br />
<i>Editor's Note: Interspersed throughout this article, I'm sharing photos from one of my favorite Carrier and Company projects that is featured in their <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Carrier-Company-Positively-Chic-Interiors/dp/0865653208/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8" target="_blank">book</a> and online in their <a href="http://www.carrierandcompany.com/portfolio/" target="_blank">portfolio</a>. It is both the original design they produced for former Men's Vogue and Town & Country Editor and current Esquire Editor Jay Fielden and his family, and the second incarnation after the family home suffered a fire. I too have designed for a family following a house fire and it can be a daunting and emotional journey. I've put the earlier photo of each room first, followed by the second version. I'm fascinated by the differences and similarities. </i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_eJ1q_YPdd8/WKXmLNujlOI/AAAAAAAAGDo/zjfXHxMQCOAGN2d-N87DU7Fqi0bhIWmWQCLcB/s1600/wilton-house-elle3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_eJ1q_YPdd8/WKXmLNujlOI/AAAAAAAAGDo/zjfXHxMQCOAGN2d-N87DU7Fqi0bhIWmWQCLcB/s400/wilton-house-elle3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Jesse
could not have been more gracious and kind. He and his wife Mara were
college sweethearts from FIT who both started their careers working with
outstanding talents in the design world. He with Thomas O'Brien then
Jeffrey Bilhuber; she with Sills Huniford Associates, Marcy V. Masterson
and Sara Bengur. The birth of their son Jack 11 years ago also marked
the creation of their company, Carrier and Company. For them, it just made
sense to join forces to tackle both design and parenthood as seamlessly
as possible. Their individual histories and tastes combined with a level of trust make theirs a successful design union. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The couple's designs are most notable for being so diverse or as Jesse described it, "We
have an aesthetic that's not totally identifiable." While some
designers are known for a certain "look" that clients come to expect,
Carrier and Company enjoy the challenge of working with clients to
express their personal style. According to Jesse, "We have to be very
flexible in our designs, and we are strong believers in connecting
people and places. A home in the Hamptons is going to look a lot different
than a home in Connecticut or Texas or Florida."<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When asked if they're ever fearful of repeating a look, he said, "While
we might have our go-tos and our
tried and true fabrics or pieces, we never use them the same way twice. I
noticed in putting together our book, there are certain elements that
tie through some of our
projects - formulas that we may repeat, not necessarily pieces." </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
During the panel discussion, Jesse referenced editing and how it's essential when working with client's pieces and styles. I asked him how that translated when working with couples who were combining households or just changing styles after years together. "When working with couples, it is helpful that we are a couple," Jesse said. "There is some sort of sympatico sensibility. There is a trust level. We understand that dynamic and can educate the client about what will work and what won't."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Lastly, I asked what advice he might have for new designers. Jesse stressed the importance of interning and working under mentors. "The biggest mistake we see is impatience," he said. "In our industry, there a lot of
designers who find this career path people later in life, and there's a sense of
you got your degree, now you can just put a shingle out. We went to school and
then learned so much more in our internships and jobs. Having worked under
someone who's done it for 20 years is invaluable experience."<br />

<a href="http://www.carrierandcompany.com/" target="_blank">Carrier and Company</a> create interiors that are effortlessly timeless yet

Yes, it's me, Kathy . . . and I'm blogging. What, you forgot I had a blog? Yeah, me too. But if there's one thing that will inspire me to dust off the old blog dashboard and hammer out a post, it's the <a href="http://antiquesandgardenshow.com/" target="_blank">Antique and Garden Show of Nashville.</a> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bZBq-UDHmzw/WIovCruUGGI/AAAAAAAAGBk/c8Fbt6o7RYISnSLlkySCGayp9jIzB1u0gCLcB/s1600/AGLogo-Final-Orange-Reversed%2B%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bZBq-UDHmzw/WIovCruUGGI/AAAAAAAAGBk/c8Fbt6o7RYISnSLlkySCGayp9jIzB1u0gCLcB/s400/AGLogo-Final-Orange-Reversed%2B%25281%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Have you been before? If not, you must vow to go this year. It is scheduled for next Friday through Sunday, Feb. 3-5 at the Music City Center in downtown Nashville. Hundreds of vendors representing the best in antiques, interiors, art and garden design set up to showcase their wares and talents. Fabulous does not begin to describe the spectacle. And while I absolutely love walking and gawking at the beauty, my favorite parts of the show are the designers they feature during keynote speeches and design panels. You might remember how <a href="http://myinteriorlife.blogspot.com/2012/02/goobing-out.html" target="_blank">I about lost it the year Miles Redd came to town</a>? Well, the major star power this year is almost unparalleled. Do you know who the Keynote Speaker is?? Are you ready for this? <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IOu-FUzguNU/WIovC-YoxXI/AAAAAAAAGBo/1dy87LRMl1Aa7abT_X5Dfkf0puKn7NoRQCLcB/s1600/Nateberkus.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IOu-FUzguNU/WIovC-YoxXI/AAAAAAAAGBo/1dy87LRMl1Aa7abT_X5Dfkf0puKn7NoRQCLcB/s400/Nateberkus.png" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yes, Nate Berkus, the genius himself. Can you stand it?? The <a href="http://antiquesandgardenshow.com/about-the-show/lectures-books/nate-berkus-keynote-speaker/" target="_blank">Keynote Speech will be moderated by Tori Mellott and take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3. </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the Design Panel Lecture this year . . . I die. Some of my favorites . . .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9ZoLUH0u238/WIovCuAG38I/AAAAAAAAGBg/2oKWo-aiceocnKu7MJ477FcLN5uC3eKBACLcB/s1600/Jesse%2BCarrier%2Band%2BMara%2BMiller%2BPhoto%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9ZoLUH0u238/WIovCuAG38I/AAAAAAAAGBg/2oKWo-aiceocnKu7MJ477FcLN5uC3eKBACLcB/s400/Jesse%2BCarrier%2Band%2BMara%2BMiller%2BPhoto%2B2.jpg" width="301" /></a></div>
Married design super stars, Jessie Carrier and Mara Miller. I have loved them for years. You might recall the <a href="http://myinteriorlife.blogspot.com/2010/08/just-my-speed.html" target="_blank">post where I drooled all over their designs back in 2010</a>. And if you don't have their book yet, you must get it. I might bring it with me to get it signed. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f55YbADkRC0/WIovCSGfHqI/AAAAAAAAGBc/F-WxT1huV74ksOcuvD4gT_DFI-DrRJV5wCLcB/s1600/Mary%2BMcDonald%2BWhite%2BShirt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f55YbADkRC0/WIovCSGfHqI/AAAAAAAAGBc/F-WxT1huV74ksOcuvD4gT_DFI-DrRJV5wCLcB/s400/Mary%2BMcDonald%2BWhite%2BShirt.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
And, oh Queen Mary . . . does she even need an introduction? I adore Mary McDonald as you may recall when <a href="http://myinteriorlife.blogspot.com/2011/10/market-take-2.html" target="_blank">I met her at High Point Market several years ago. She complimented my jewelry </a>so I'm pretty sure she'll remember me next week when I attend the Design Panel. I'll probably wear the bracelet for good luck. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hr9RSCor0AY/WIovFCYOvCI/AAAAAAAAGBs/87Z4ZvHnt-wmUF0xW5uc_WNa2sjf-pEZwCLcB/s1600/Nathan%2BTurner%2BPhoto.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hr9RSCor0AY/WIovFCYOvCI/AAAAAAAAGBs/87Z4ZvHnt-wmUF0xW5uc_WNa2sjf-pEZwCLcB/s400/Nathan%2BTurner%2BPhoto.jpg" width="267" /></a></div>
And Nathan Turner, Mary's cohort in design crime from Million Dollar Decorators. He has such a great sense of style, and don't you want him to be your best friend too? Here's to hoping he calls Mary "Mims" during the panel discussion. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HiTzukgrZds/WIovHLhTnOI/AAAAAAAAGBw/SBljCPWn_PY_lMwDzBKfpjIm_tEkt_QmACLcB/s1600/RobertPortrait.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HiTzukgrZds/WIovHLhTnOI/AAAAAAAAGBw/SBljCPWn_PY_lMwDzBKfpjIm_tEkt_QmACLcB/s400/RobertPortrait.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
Famed design author and former editor of Domino and managing editor of Lonny, Robert Leleux will be moderating the panel and asking all the insightful questions.<br />
<br />
It is called the Dream Team, and for good reason. <a href="http://antiquesandgardenshow.com/about-the-show/lectures-books/design-panel-lecture/" target="_blank">The Design Panel lecture will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 11 a.m.</a><br />
<br />
You should definitely come to the show . . . you will be inspired. I hope to see you there! For everyone else, you can watch this clip. <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="344" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/sfQBKB4s1ks" width="459"></iframe>
</div>
While I'm not hoarding blog content like Elaine is hoarding contraceptives, I feel like nothing really "blogworthy" is happening right now. I'm not sure the reason for this. Sure, I've been busy, but everybody is. Part of the reason is that I've been reevaluating my technology usage lately and realizing that I would rather spend my time with my family and, in general, just being a more productive person. While I've been busy working with clients, nothing is a great before and after moment worth sharing or photographing. Working on my own home always grinds to a halt when I'm busy elsewhere, so nothing new to report on that front (naked dining room floors are still naked). Elsewhere, my kids are busy growing and thriving and finishing up 6th and 2nd grades respectively (I can't believe they are 12 and 9).<br />
<br />
Blogging has never been my job . . . I don't get paid or have advertising on it. It's always been a hobby at best, but one that I've loved. Getting to connect with people near and far is amazing. It's true that blogging is a little community, and I've been honored and blessed to meet many blog friends both online and in the real world (and it's weird how much people are truly reflected in their blogs - they are just as funny and sweet and charming in person). So, what am I trying to say? Am I quitting blogging? Not really. I still want to be able to share projects and/or finds/ideas with you when I feel something is worth sharing. I feel that the blogging world is getting a little cynical (we've all read the vitriol over at Get Off My Internets), and I feel like if I don't have anything earth-shattering to share, it's not really worth anyone's time. So please know that I will occasionally pop in when the time/content is right. In the meantime, you can find me on <a href="http://instagram.com/myinteriorlife#" target="_blank">Instagram</a> posting away!<br />

My Interior Lifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05521197089269607537noreply@blogger.com29tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6437031930570661125.post-81670022226338824612014-03-17T09:23:00.000-07:002014-03-17T09:25:48.468-07:00Should I Go Naked?Nothing like starting off a Monday with a provocative question, right? Sorry to disappoint you though if you were hoping for some talk of skin . . . today, I'm talking about my dining room floor. You see, I'm kind of going through some growing pains with my dining room, and one of the changes I've already made is ditching my rug. What? Oh yes, I went naked. But the question is should I stay that way? Let's back up. In case you can't remember, here's what my dining room looked like with a rug . . . <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kWMkEILlm0I/UycQ01TCO0I/AAAAAAAAFuU/mCJ4Ot9M3QQ/s1600/kinteriordining.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kWMkEILlm0I/UycQ01TCO0I/AAAAAAAAFuU/mCJ4Ot9M3QQ/s1600/kinteriordining.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Just your basic jute rug from West Elm, nothing fancy. I have patterned Persian rugs in rooms that adjoin this one so I never wanted any distracting colors or patterns on the floor of the dining room. So, I've always had some version of a jute or natural fiber rug (prior to this one I had the diamond jute rug from West Elm). And while I've always liked the look of these neutral natural rugs, they do have their downsides. A. They shed (there is always a pile of sandy/dusty/gritty material under the edges of the rug), and B. I have two dogs and a cat, and let's just say they sometimes think the jute is grass, and well, you can guess the rest. Which leads to C. The natural fiber rugs are hard to clean. So, after a while, mine was looking pretty worse for the wear, so I took it the the recycling center. Now, my dining room looks like this . . . </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KOX4ca5rxMA/UycXMAugFOI/AAAAAAAAFuk/qwXZC3U9gco/s1600/nakeddining.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KOX4ca5rxMA/UycXMAugFOI/AAAAAAAAFuk/qwXZC3U9gco/s1600/nakeddining.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I actually don't mind the bare floor, but I don't like the clashing browns of my dining table and floor. It was way less noticeable when there was a buffer rug between the two. And if you follow me on Instagram, you've probably seen these . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GIiy_bvvwT0/UycYeqB51SI/AAAAAAAAFuw/ikGCawIit9A/s1600/chairs.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GIiy_bvvwT0/UycYeqB51SI/AAAAAAAAFuw/ikGCawIit9A/s1600/chairs.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Yes, I bought some new dining chairs. I got them at the Habitat Re-Store . . . they were such a good deal and I absolutely love the shape and black color (which needs some serious touching up, etc.). And, of course, they need new fabric so I got a swatch of this just to play around with. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H_uzXzFU0SE/UycZQ4RNz5I/AAAAAAAAFu8/EN9hYjXlkmo/s1600/pearlriver.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H_uzXzFU0SE/UycZQ4RNz5I/AAAAAAAAFu8/EN9hYjXlkmo/s1600/pearlriver.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Which led me to think about painting my walls a creamy color . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IpWflAZhF8w/UycZdO5N_FI/AAAAAAAAFvE/7Kyo-aSSxPw/s1600/fabric.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IpWflAZhF8w/UycZdO5N_FI/AAAAAAAAFvE/7Kyo-aSSxPw/s1600/fabric.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
One thing leads to another. It's inevitable. So, basically now I want to change my entire dining room (table, chairs, walls, possibly chandelier, etc.). No big deal. To me, our current dining room looks a little formal, and we're not really a formal dining kind of family. More of a casual group. <br />
<br />
Which leads me back to the floors . . . for now, I'm keeping them naked. Once other decisions are made, I'm sure it will become clear. Until then, here are some dining rooms I've been drawn to with naked floors . . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1Yq_Ds_8nM0/Uycc9Epi5JI/AAAAAAAAFvQ/r2Z3W-UY4xY/s1600/addining.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1Yq_Ds_8nM0/Uycc9Epi5JI/AAAAAAAAFvQ/r2Z3W-UY4xY/s1600/addining.jpg" height="640" width="492" /></a></div>

Now, if I could just convince my uncle to switch dining tables with me, I'd be set (he currently has my dearly departed Grandmother's oval Saarinen style table which I covet). </div>

What about you, do you like the bare/naked dining room floor look?</div>

It was great fun working on this space because, as you might imagine, I had a great deal of creative control and could work with some items I already had as well as some new pieces. Also, I don't always get to do a full "install" for clients, rather just a piece here or there so there's not always a dramatic "after" photo to share. Without further ado, here's one of the afters . . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vi0BzKAa1QY/Uwy6OzjCLdI/AAAAAAAAFs8/8DYcPwZFBtM/s1600/office+overview.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vi0BzKAa1QY/Uwy6OzjCLdI/AAAAAAAAFs8/8DYcPwZFBtM/s1600/office+overview.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Please excuse the graininess - these are iPhone photos and the lighting is not the best (something I will tackle soon). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And a before so you'll see how absymal it was before . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WiC24tHMAQk/Uwy6u4juN-I/AAAAAAAAFtE/ciiin5L8oRg/s1600/beforecouch.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WiC24tHMAQk/Uwy6u4juN-I/AAAAAAAAFtE/ciiin5L8oRg/s1600/beforecouch.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Hello, boring beige and brown. That is his bachelor sofa - he hasn't been a bachelor in about 18 years,
so that tells you we were working with some serious leftover
furniture. Now, you might be asking yourself, "Kathy, how could you let the break area at your husband's office look so bad??" Well, the truth is, it was at the bottom of every list I had and at the bottom of his budget list as well. And while we accomplished this on a serious shoestring budget, it still cost money (that comes out of our pocket ultimately). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8Dn6-wuWS2w/Uwy8QPGg86I/AAAAAAAAFtQ/A9p9xi9vjBc/s1600/before+coffee.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8Dn6-wuWS2w/Uwy8QPGg86I/AAAAAAAAFtQ/A9p9xi9vjBc/s1600/before+coffee.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xByQ6tsiXpA/Uwy8RKiN3tI/AAAAAAAAFtc/hsn6XXvUcWk/s1600/beforemirror.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xByQ6tsiXpA/Uwy8RKiN3tI/AAAAAAAAFtc/hsn6XXvUcWk/s1600/beforemirror.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The other pieces, I honestly had nothing to do with either. I think they were things he picked up because they were cheap and readily available when they needed a table or shelf. Seriously. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, we literally threw out all the old furniture as it was fairly broken and stained (put it at the curb with "Free" signs and it was gone within minutes). I picked out some new commercial carpet in a charcoal gray with hints of blue (this is a commercial building that he leases), had the walls and trim painted out in Restless Sea by Behr and then started layering in furniture and accessories. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jDx3Ksjlkf4/Uwy9jiMVfLI/AAAAAAAAFt0/spWLeRwM6gw/s1600/officemirror.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jDx3Ksjlkf4/Uwy9jiMVfLI/AAAAAAAAFt0/spWLeRwM6gw/s1600/officemirror.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KDH5MKIKRis/Uwy9kbvSsxI/AAAAAAAAFt4/GZkH1qMTtw8/s1600/sideangle.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KDH5MKIKRis/Uwy9kbvSsxI/AAAAAAAAFt4/GZkH1qMTtw8/s1600/sideangle.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I rearranged the layout of the room and oriented the new credenza from Overstock (the only truly new piece in the room) on the longest wall. Then I floated the $20 faux bamboo table from Craigslist (it was a heinous speckled yellow, so I just painted it white for contrast) in the middle of the room to allow for more seating. I brought in chairs and stools that I already had from estate sales to pull around the table. Still need a couple more chairs, but for now it will do. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I accented the room with vintage rugs (also from my stash - the smaller one I just got at an estate sale this weekend) and pulled in oranges, corals and pinks for accent colors (did I mention my husband is the only male in his office of six people) with the art and my husband's underwater photography. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vophK6Xi6B8/Uwy9jB9JU0I/AAAAAAAAFuE/nToe02bosz4/s1600/coffeestation.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vophK6Xi6B8/Uwy9jB9JU0I/AAAAAAAAFuE/nToe02bosz4/s1600/coffeestation.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9xKDzKSTrNA/Uwy9jjLqVuI/AAAAAAAAFt8/Zm7JlS63NLE/s1600/closeup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9xKDzKSTrNA/Uwy9jjLqVuI/AAAAAAAAFt8/Zm7JlS63NLE/s1600/closeup.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I gave them a new little coffee/microwave station and added my homemade Rothko-inspired art (also inspired by J<a href="http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2014/01/thank-you-and-little-rothko-esque-art.html" target="_blank">enny from Little Green Noteboo</a>k) for some color and interest. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Overall, it's done, just still needs some small fixes here and there (lighting and window treatment). I'm pretty happy with it, and the ladies who work there are thrilled, so it's a win-win. I hope you've enjoyed this little before and after. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Hope to see you sooner rather than later (as it's been lately). </div>

I just wanted to share a couple of noteworthy projects lately that have captured my attention and admiration.<br />
<br />
First, sweet <a href="http://design-crisis.com/" target="_blank">Erin of Design Crisis</a>. Her beautiful home recently graced the pages of a new quarterly Texas shelter publication called <a href="http://bungalowmag.com/" target="_blank">Bungalow</a> (why can't we have something like this in Tennessee? Seriously lacking in this area). I'm sure you've seen her blog and home before, but if not, you must check them out. Erin knocks it out of the park with her thrilling mix of vintage furniture, rugs, accessories and art - my God, the art. Bungalow obviously took notice with a great article on her. Not sure I can pick a favorite but her bedroom is currently killing me softly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CihtWwmB2ls/UuCDcPc4FpI/AAAAAAAAFsk/HNYtsNbv1AY/s1600/erin-williamson-1-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CihtWwmB2ls/UuCDcPc4FpI/AAAAAAAAFsk/HNYtsNbv1AY/s1600/erin-williamson-1-2.jpg" height="640" width="494" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Next up, <a href="http://www.fromtherightbank.com/2014/01/reveal-of-the-wet-bar-or-my-boldest-project-to-date/" target="_blank">Ally of From the Right Bank</a>. I've long been an admirer of her style and blog and keep up with her through Instagram mainly these days. A photo she posted yesterday stopped me dead in my tracks. Did you see it? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ibUBEnYow_s/UuCEwclnj6I/AAAAAAAAFss/7A8Fo25g6co/s1600/ally.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ibUBEnYow_s/UuCEwclnj6I/AAAAAAAAFss/7A8Fo25g6co/s1600/ally.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
She used scrubbable vinyl wallpaper that she found at LOWE'S to transform her wet bar. It's sort of mind-blowingly unique, I think. Talk about making a statement. You can read more about it and see the before <a href="http://www.fromtherightbank.com/2014/01/reveal-of-the-wet-bar-or-my-boldest-project-to-date/" target="_blank">here </a>(the before looks pretty good by the way; I just love that she had the vision to make it so different). Makes me want to run out to Lowe's and then wallpaper something. Anything. Maybe my dogs. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Anyway, I just wanted to share these two inspiring ladies/spaces with you. Enjoy! Now, let's go do something creative. </div>

And while I could have been doing all kinds of productive things with my time at home today (working, organizing, etc.), I told myself that I needed to stay near Pierce on the sofa. With my laptop. So, I started looking at Craigslist. And sometimes it takes just one thing to set off my brain. Today, it was this <a href="http://nashville.craigslist.org/fuo/4296391123.html" target="_blank">vintage sofa</a> . . .<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
I know some of you think I may be sniffing glue, but I love a good vintage print sofa. It might be a little over the top, but the colors are so pretty and saturated and the design is so unique. Here are some rooms that showcase a vivid sofa to great effect . . .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
So, I poked around a little more on CL and found some other finds that I thought might work in the same room - a faux bamboo dresser, gold vintage mirror, Moroccan brass tray table (that my friend Bri is selling) and two faux bamboo wing chairs (there are actually two different CL sellers selling the same chair - they would just need to be painted to match). I mocked up a little inspiration board with the CL finds supplemented with some Nate Berkus lamps from Target, a rug from World Market and some homemade art courtesy of <a href="http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2014/01/thank-you-and-little-rothko-esque-art.html" target="_blank">Jenny Komenda of Little Green Notebook</a> (I borrowed her actual art for the inspiration board but check out her <a href="http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2014/01/thank-you-and-little-rothko-esque-art.html" target="_blank">post</a> to see how you could create your own). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xLlZp3nSO0w/Ut7j3TeEC-I/AAAAAAAAFr8/OMy-KCa9TIE/s1600/OB-vintage+girl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xLlZp3nSO0w/Ut7j3TeEC-I/AAAAAAAAFr8/OMy-KCa9TIE/s1600/OB-vintage+girl.jpg" height="456" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Paint the walls a vivid blue (or complementary hue of your choice) and you've got a room like no other. I'm calling this one Vintage Girl because I can totally see this in a young lady's home. So fun and fresh. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was fun exercising my creative brain for the heck of it. You never know what a little Craigslist searching will yield. I do this kind of sourcing and boards for clients as well, so give me a <a href="mailto:kathy@kinteriorsnashville.com" target="_blank">shout</a> if you need any help spiffing up your place.</div>

I know we're now several days into 2014, but my children finally went back to school today so I have some time to blog. Plus, I started the new year being ill so I'm just starting to feel a bit like myself. I've been reading all the resolutions/goals people are throwing out there, and it's very exciting and invigorating.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uy6dJHom9mg/Us10SBul47I/AAAAAAAAFqQ/PaMNhch5fIY/s1600/funny-new-years-resolutions-quotes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uy6dJHom9mg/Us10SBul47I/AAAAAAAAFqQ/PaMNhch5fIY/s1600/funny-new-years-resolutions-quotes.jpg" height="236" width="400" /></a></div>
I don't really make resolutions, but I do like to take this time to stop, reevaluate and make some goals. I started this blog four years ago yesterday (happy blogiversary to me), and while I've never been a daily blogger I do feel like it's a big part of my life. It's opened so many doors and allowed me to make some amazing friends both locally and far away. I won't get all gushy, but I do plan to continue blogging this year and hope to share more projects with you as I do.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e0UHqLvY0yo/Us16YaMAOJI/AAAAAAAAFqw/Itp3sFtVauk/s1600/sexyblog.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e0UHqLvY0yo/Us16YaMAOJI/AAAAAAAAFqw/Itp3sFtVauk/s1600/sexyblog.JPG" height="400" width="298" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sorry, my husband sent me this a while back so I couldn't resist throwing it in. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Thanks to everyone who keeps reading . . . it means a lot. Which leads me to my business, <a href="http://kinteriorsnashville.com/" target="_blank">K Interiors</a>. In 2013, I took on a few more design clients, revamped my logo/identity and finally established a <a href="http://kinteriorsnashville.com/" target="_blank">business website</a>. I would love to take on more clients in 2014 and grow my business further. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JEB_k6reuXE/Us13NBo3YkI/AAAAAAAAFqc/OIDpSs00ONY/s1600/website.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JEB_k6reuXE/Us13NBo3YkI/AAAAAAAAFqc/OIDpSs00ONY/s1600/website.jpg" height="211" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And on a more personal note, as always, I plan to spend lots of time with family and friends enjoying those around me. It makes me incredibly weepy when I think that my children will be turning 12 and 9 this year, so I want to soak up these fun ages while I can.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now, off to get some stuff done. What are your hopes and goals for the new year?</div>

My blogging muscles are a little out of shape, but I just wanted to pop in to share some holiday happenings around here. First of all, my Pop-Up Shop was a great success. Thank you to everyone who braved the nasty, rainy weather to come and shop! I moved some merchandise and met some new people which is always great fun. I still have some "smalls" left, so I'm thinking of starting an Etsy shop or some such option after the first of the year.<br />
<br />
Here are some peeks of Christmas around my house (if you follow me on <a href="http://instagram.com/myinteriorlife#" target="_blank">Instagram</a> - where I spend a lot of my time lately - you've already seen a lot of these) . . .<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
Every year, my decor changes ever so slightly. This year we got a bigger tree and put it in a different spot (next to our fireplace). Our family's ornaments are already so colorful so when I saw the felt garland at Walgreen's (yes, Walgreen's - I'm so highbrow), it seemed like a no-brainer. Also, since the tree is so close to our mantel, I went with less greenery this year (I usually do a full garland of fresh greenery) and instead opted for a gold dot garland (I painted some Mara Mi garland from Target gold - I found mismatched ones at Goodwill for $1. Gotta improvise, people). I also threw in some gold feather ornaments from Hobby Lobby and some bronze urchin-looking ornaments as well. As always, I love to see Christmas cards from friends and family first thing when I walk in, so I stash them on mirrors and greenery within the house. Speaking of Christmas cards, mine will be going out soon, I promise. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Oh, and here's a little Rockin Around the Christmas Tree to get you in the Christmas spirit from none other than our talented daughter Meg at her piano recital Sunday. So proud of her!</div>

December is here. Agggh. My kids were out all last week (ridiculous to have a week off for Thanksgiving, but I digress), we were out of town for a good portion of that week, then I returned home and got sick. Yay! But, the show must go on. I have been busy preparing for my Holiday Pop-Up Shop Thursday night and Friday. Please do come out if you're in the Nashville/Franklin area (see details below). Lots of goodies to be had. I'll be sharing sneak peeks on <a href="http://instagram.com/myinteriorlife#" target="_blank">Instagram</a> as well.<br />
<br />
Now, on to Gentleman's Gray. Do you ever notice how once you buy a car or a sweater or anything, you start seeing it everywhere or at least a lot more than you did before said purchase? Well, in this case, it's a color. I've been working with a client on her office, and I suggested we go dark and dramatic since the rest of the house is more neutral. Dark blue is an accent in other rooms, so it seemed the logical choice. After painting some swatches on the wall, she went with my suggestion of <a href="http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/gentlemansgray" target="_blank">Benjamin Moore's Gentleman's Gray</a>. I must say, it looks amazing. While the room is not done yet (still needs some more furniture, lighting, accessories, draperies, etc.), I just snapped an "in-progress" photo the other day to show the room color.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XvlVmZx0I-Y/Up4K3kRlcKI/AAAAAAAAFnM/SVFL-s2uK7c/s1600/after.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XvlVmZx0I-Y/Up4K3kRlcKI/AAAAAAAAFnM/SVFL-s2uK7c/s400/after.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Isn't it so pretty? To give you an idea what a difference paint can make, here's the before . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PAc0GNpV6iM/Up4LVEe-EmI/AAAAAAAAFnU/KyZERL9uNVo/s1600/before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PAc0GNpV6iM/Up4LVEe-EmI/AAAAAAAAFnU/KyZERL9uNVo/s400/before.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Dramatic change, right?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, I get my <a href="http://www.housebeautiful.com/decorating/house-pictures/tartan-home-decor-1213#slide-2" target="_blank">House Beautiful</a> last week, and one of the features is designer Scott Meacham Wood's apartment in San Francisco. The color of his main living room? Gentleman's Gray, of course. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u81psnEGkmg/Up4N5BjhMmI/AAAAAAAAFng/91Fckper0yk/s1600/scott.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u81psnEGkmg/Up4N5BjhMmI/AAAAAAAAFng/91Fckper0yk/s400/scott.jpg" width="347" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
His room looks more teal but either way - same color supposedly. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then yesterday my friend <a href="http://mybluehydrangea.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-dark-side.html" target="_blank">Sissy from Blue Hydrangea</a> blogged about her husband's office that she recently had painted. Of course, I loved it and commented that I had used a dark blue for a client called Gentleman's Gray recently. Well, she emailed me back because that was her color too. All that is to say, that if you're looking for a pretty, rich dark blue (have no idea why they call it gray??), this is a great choice. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now, on to the sale. Please see the details below . . . if you have any questions, please <a href="mailto:kathy@kinteriorsnashville.com" target="_blank">email</a> me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you come Thursday night, there's a chance I might even have some wine. Hope to see you there!</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm holding a Holiday Pop-Up Shop on Friday, December 6 at my house (address to come at a later date) in the Nashville/Franklin area. I'll be selling from my hoard of treasured goodies - everything from furniture (chairs, tables, etc.), lamps, mirrors and vintage art to accessories - think a lot of fun brass and marble goodies you can keep or give as gifts that would look perfect on your coffee table or shelves. I'll be revealing different items up for sale over the next couple of weeks (especially on Instagram), so stay tuned. While this sale is happening locally, whatever items don't get snatched up during the sale will be offered up online or Instagram for sale (I'm just trying to cut down on the number of items I have to ship at this hectic time of year). </div>

I've been pretty busy working on some client stuff, but I just wanted to share with you a couple of finds I stumbled upon while out sourcing stuff. I saw this nice little tray at World Market the other day so I snapped a photo of it because you never know who might need a tray somewhere someday . . .<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VSePuFqO3kk/UoTpSlV_UaI/AAAAAAAAFkw/AACkO_D5Jdo/s1600/wmtray.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VSePuFqO3kk/UoTpSlV_UaI/AAAAAAAAFkw/AACkO_D5Jdo/s400/wmtray.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then as I'm catching up on my blog reading, I see <a href="http://www.confettiandstripesblog.com/2013/11/one-room-challenge-master-bedroom.html" target="_blank">Mallory's post on her beautiful master bedroom for the One Room Challenge</a>. As I'm looking more closely, I spy this photo . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AHuN45rFMi0/UoTqLnB_FFI/AAAAAAAAFk8/Xn6w_cR7IKs/s1600/mallory.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AHuN45rFMi0/UoTqLnB_FFI/AAAAAAAAFk8/Xn6w_cR7IKs/s400/mallory.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I thought, oh cool, she has that tray I just saw at World Market. But, I checked her sources and hers is actually the <a href="http://www.zincdoor.com/p/Arteriors-Cinchwaist-Gold-Tray__AR3115.aspx" target="_blank">Arteriors Cinchwaist Tray (which you can find at Zinc Door)</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now, the tray from <a href="http://www.worldmarket.com/product/gold+mirrored+tabletop+tray.do?&from=Search" target="_blank">World Market </a>actually has ball feet on it and it may be a little smaller overall, but if you're looking for a similar luxe look for less I say it's worth it. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1m1f_v9JBso/UoTqNBVECaI/AAAAAAAAFlI/T-JdXGTV3xE/s1600/goldtraywm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1m1f_v9JBso/UoTqNBVECaI/AAAAAAAAFlI/T-JdXGTV3xE/s400/goldtraywm.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.worldmarket.com/product/gold+mirrored+tabletop+tray.do?&from=Search" target="_blank">World Market Gold Mirrored Tabletop Tray, $29.99</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QQqJa_wyIwU/UoTqYP5Vi6I/AAAAAAAAFlQ/BHbwym7bMWQ/s1600/arteriors+tray.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QQqJa_wyIwU/UoTqYP5Vi6I/AAAAAAAAFlQ/BHbwym7bMWQ/s400/arteriors+tray.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.zincdoor.com/p/Arteriors-Cinchwaist-Gold-Tray__AR3115.aspx" target="_blank">Arteriors Cinchwaist Tray, $396</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And another little find was this very chic <a href="http://www.target.com/p/target-limited-edition-stripe-clutch-black/-/A-14686817#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=black+clutch" target="_blank">black and </a><a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6437031930570661125" target="_blank">gold clutch I ran across at Target</a> . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pDpo7P9CmFM/UoT3k3GoehI/AAAAAAAAFlc/plXahRFowyk/s1600/targetclutch.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pDpo7P9CmFM/UoT3k3GoehI/AAAAAAAAFlc/plXahRFowyk/s400/targetclutch.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It looked very similar to some I had seen online for a lot more. For instance . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NcRWBK-aI10/UoT4YgEpxwI/AAAAAAAAFls/NNC2_p_DxsE/s1600/black-and-gold-clutch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NcRWBK-aI10/UoT4YgEpxwI/AAAAAAAAFls/NNC2_p_DxsE/s400/black-and-gold-clutch.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
this clutch looks almost exactly the same to me . . . although <a href="http://www.nikkisbeachhouse.com/shop/239-black-and-gold-clutch.html#.UoT4eraxOqA" target="_blank">this one is $92</a> online as opposed to Target's $24.99. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Either the tray or the clutch would make great gifts for design savvy peeps. Speaking of gifts, I'm still planning on having a Holiday Pop Up Shop/Tag Sale of sorts in the next couple of weeks. Lots of items that would make great gifts for friends and family or to help you deck your halls for the holidays. Watch for details both here and on <a href="http://instagram.com/myinteriorlife" target="_blank">Instagram</a>!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

First resurrection. Not Jesus. Not Night of the Living Dead. No, I'm talking flowers, specifically cut hydrangea. This may seem random, but I've had questions about this. We've all had this sad situation occur . . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cL7im5vOPMs/UnEqXtIrdnI/AAAAAAAAFjE/j-gh1M4SFGo/s1600/deadflower.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cL7im5vOPMs/UnEqXtIrdnI/AAAAAAAAFjE/j-gh1M4SFGo/s400/deadflower.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
This happened to me just one day after I bought this little grocery store arrangement. Uggh. What to do? First, take a little snip off the bottom then submerge the whole thing - stem, blooms and all - in lukewarm water.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lB0hdQX-6xw/UnEqZkSBxXI/AAAAAAAAFjM/y5w_h5GiWL4/s1600/wetflower.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lB0hdQX-6xw/UnEqZkSBxXI/AAAAAAAAFjM/y5w_h5GiWL4/s400/wetflower.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Give it at least half an hour, come back and this is what happens.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IARLJDjbXeE/UnEqbcG2A5I/AAAAAAAAFjY/ZC03SAYFU_c/s1600/aliveflower.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IARLJDjbXeE/UnEqbcG2A5I/AAAAAAAAFjY/ZC03SAYFU_c/s400/aliveflower.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Voila! Like magic, it's back to life. Now, I've only tried this with hydrangea so it may not work with other blooms, but just thought I would pass along the information.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sCJcQ0ys3UY/UnEqcbK6OiI/AAAAAAAAFjg/orJjBEMhEGw/s1600/arrangement.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sCJcQ0ys3UY/UnEqcbK6OiI/AAAAAAAAFjg/orJjBEMhEGw/s400/arrangement.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And here it is back in its little fall arrangement.</div>
<br />
Now, on to Halloween tomorrow. In our neck of the woods (as Al Roker is so fond of saying), it is supposed to be horrific weather - not just rain, we're talking severe weather like oh, I don't know hail, straight-line winds and possible tornadoes. Awesome. So, some neighborhoods/communities are trying to postpone trick-or-treating until Friday. I hope this catches on as I don't want to die (or even get wet really) for the sake of my kids getting candy. My son decided to be an ICEE - yes, a sweet, syrupy beverage basically. He's an original. So, of course, this required a homemade costume, and I am SO not crafty. People mistakenly think I am because I'm creative in other ways, but arts and crafts are just not my thing. Here's the costume so far (not totally done yet) . . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v5pmvSpKMeY/UnEtdW2TMDI/AAAAAAAAFjo/FRcOcu4PV1w/s1600/icee.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v5pmvSpKMeY/UnEtdW2TMDI/AAAAAAAAFjo/FRcOcu4PV1w/s400/icee.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Luckily, my daughter's costume just required me to order some things online. And speaking of ordering things online (since this post is so random, why not just totally go off the rails), <a href="https://www.madewell.com/index.jsp" target="_blank">Madewell</a> is having a little one day sale today (30% off select styles), and there are a few things I'm quite taken with . . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vNqf0ik7tAs/UnEuUfO-DQI/AAAAAAAAFj0/u-gp6rmL7tc/s1600/bowbelt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vNqf0ik7tAs/UnEuUfO-DQI/AAAAAAAAFj0/u-gp6rmL7tc/s400/bowbelt.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This <a href="https://www.madewell.com/madewell_category/ACCESSORIES/belts/PRDOVR~05199/99103149851/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20+225~~~0~90~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~leather/05199.jsp" target="_blank">skinny metal bow belt</a> . . . I don't know why. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And this <a href="https://www.madewell.com/madewell_feature/justfortoday/PRDOVR~07764/07764.jsp?color_name=true-black" target="_blank">sweater </a>. . .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wIm3kYHsnaY/UnEvC9SWtdI/AAAAAAAAFkA/e-U3WufOLsM/s1600/sweater.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wIm3kYHsnaY/UnEvC9SWtdI/AAAAAAAAFkA/e-U3WufOLsM/s400/sweater.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now if I could just be as cool looking in leather pants, I would totally rock this look. I even like the model's hair. I'm getting my haircut this afternoon. Hmm.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And last but not least, I ordered this <a href="https://www.madewell.com/madewell_category/BAGS/totes/PRDOVR~53228/53228.jsp?color_name=english-saddle" target="_blank">tote </a>from Madewell a while back and get quite a few compliments on it . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VWsoEXU0GRg/UnEwQlPoIvI/AAAAAAAAFkM/mTRcMzGaj1M/s1600/tote.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VWsoEXU0GRg/UnEwQlPoIvI/AAAAAAAAFkM/mTRcMzGaj1M/s400/tote.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Of course, it's not on sale (I used a coupon I had on mine) but still not a bad price. I love it - lots of space and pocket for my keys and phone. You can even have it monogrammed if you're so inclined. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I apologize for what was probably the most random post ever, but I wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween! </div>

I recently shared my new logos for both the blog and my design business. Now, I've officially got my business website up and running. So please do go check it out here: <a href="http://www.kinteriorsnashville.com/">www.kinteriorsnashville.com</a> . . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EHXvhgDdLKA/UmbDszaiJcI/AAAAAAAAFio/rnxlncV9kCs/s400/kiscreen.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
You can also access the new site by clicking on the "About" and "K Interiors" buttons at the top of this blog. For now, My Interior Life (the blog) is staying right here where it's always been (blogspot address and all), but you can also access it from my K Interiors site (if you're over there) by simply clicking on the "Blog" button. Does that make sense? I hope so. I toyed around with the idea of trying to transfer my blog directly onto the new site (which I may do eventually), but if I do that all my subscribers will have to re-subscribe over there, etc. It was just too confusing for my little brain. So, for now I'm keeping the blog as-is.<br />
<br />
I've also been hoarding some things recently that I plan on selling. My thought is to have a Tag Sale locally (probably at my home) in the next couple of weeks (haven't worked out all those little details yet), but also sell items through my website or Etsy eventually as well. Please let me know your thoughts on all of that. Here's a sampling of some recent finds (<a href="http://instagram.com/myinteriorlife#" target="_blank">Instagram</a> followers, sorry for the repeat):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f6j556YDgjU/UmbHLGv6X4I/AAAAAAAAFi0/tK8G3WdI8a8/s1600/finds.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f6j556YDgjU/UmbHLGv6X4I/AAAAAAAAFi0/tK8G3WdI8a8/s400/finds.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, if you're looking for some decorating help, please check out <a href="http://www.kinteriorsnashville.com/">www.kinteriorsnashville.com</a>. And, if you're looking for something special for your home (or someone else's), please stay tuned for more information about upcoming sale items either on the blog or <a href="http://instagram.com/myinteriorlife#" target="_blank">Instagram</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As always, thanks for following along in my design journey!</div>

I'm on fire. I got an email this morning from my Worlds Away rep sharing a preview of pieces that are being introduced at High Point Market starting October 19. She mentioned that this fall High Point show represents the single largest product introduction in Worlds Away’s history. While the usual gilt and lacquered pieces are represented, I think you'll see a definite Mid-Century Modern/Mad Men inspired trend as well. Kind of exciting and different for Worlds Away. Without further ado, here are the pretties . . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LFsdK0sPIc4/UlQTlXfSYUI/AAAAAAAAFgg/LKgwCFNOCWE/s1600/worldsawaycabinet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LFsdK0sPIc4/UlQTlXfSYUI/AAAAAAAAFgg/LKgwCFNOCWE/s640/worldsawaycabinet.jpg" width="468" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This fabulous green lacquered faux bamboo bar cabinet with over-sized Greek Key pulls and gold leaf base. The inside is mirrored. It also comes in white. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kzCZqa3_hbo/UlQUP5g6lKI/AAAAAAAAFgw/2Oa7U6h61DI/s1600/bookcases.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kzCZqa3_hbo/UlQUP5g6lKI/AAAAAAAAFgw/2Oa7U6h61DI/s400/bookcases.jpg" width="376" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
More glam and lacquer in the form of shelves this time (they're also available in green). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now, on to some of the Mid-Century Modern/Mad Men inspired pieces . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MCHyBhgyoqM/UlQbH4w0h7I/AAAAAAAAFhA/-BcfTzTMJ5Q/s1600/MCMtables.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MCHyBhgyoqM/UlQbH4w0h7I/AAAAAAAAFhA/-BcfTzTMJ5Q/s400/MCMtables.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dFo92LYgGak/UlQbIICh_5I/AAAAAAAAFhc/p_bataOtxDM/s1600/mod+side.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dFo92LYgGak/UlQbIICh_5I/AAAAAAAAFhc/p_bataOtxDM/s400/mod+side.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-P2ssvSl_gKY/UlQbH5ZgmkI/AAAAAAAAFhI/wAe0mrvCJNg/s1600/WAside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-P2ssvSl_gKY/UlQbH5ZgmkI/AAAAAAAAFhI/wAe0mrvCJNg/s400/WAside.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z-oZ4QsxcXU/UlQbIVk1dkI/AAAAAAAAFhY/1lYOF-HZuOg/s1600/whitechair.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="335" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z-oZ4QsxcXU/UlQbIVk1dkI/AAAAAAAAFhY/1lYOF-HZuOg/s400/whitechair.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And just to really drive the Mad Men reference home, these last two chairs are even named "Don" and "Joan."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QbkSoqeAn64/UlQbHwSLfPI/AAAAAAAAFhE/Ld_9NcPGlso/s1600/madmenchairs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QbkSoqeAn64/UlQbHwSLfPI/AAAAAAAAFhE/Ld_9NcPGlso/s640/madmenchairs.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Of course, as always, Worlds Away has some stellar lighting options as well. Here are some that caught my eye . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OpkAZPCRZ8E/UlQn8qb320I/AAAAAAAAFh0/soxw-0zrIPo/s1600/geodrum.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="336" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OpkAZPCRZ8E/UlQn8qb320I/AAAAAAAAFh0/soxw-0zrIPo/s400/geodrum.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lrffMjEjEm0/UlQn8l0R7BI/AAAAAAAAFiM/TPXxOR_JW-0/s1600/lucite.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lrffMjEjEm0/UlQn8l0R7BI/AAAAAAAAFiM/TPXxOR_JW-0/s640/lucite.jpg" width="378" /></a></div>

Today, it actually feels like it here in Nashville too which is so exciting. Jeans and boots are my uniform, so I'm so happy to be able to pull them out. I seriously don't even know where the time goes, but it seems I'm busier in the fall too (which can be good and bad). I also tend to find inspiration all over the place - whether it's while driving the kids to activities or shopping for clients, there's just so much to take in. Of course, there are the typical sources of inspiration too. I just posted this little photo on Instagram . . .<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-na6G8-Zt0Z8/UlLXDAH1_xI/AAAAAAAAFfY/tuQ0bE4Dys0/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-na6G8-Zt0Z8/UlLXDAH1_xI/AAAAAAAAFfY/tuQ0bE4Dys0/s640/photo+1.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
While it may be an occupational hazard (or a sign of hoarding tendencies), I am somewhat addicted to shelter magazines and tend to buy more this time of year as well. I'm a sucker, I admit. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I grabbed the new Domino over the weekend as well as House & Garden (which is only at the bookstore since it's British). Of course, I devoured them both, but some photos from H&G stuck with me . . .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vDiXA66OSY4/UlLXsEZ-StI/AAAAAAAAFfg/UmzaMFmbl84/s1600/photo+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vDiXA66OSY4/UlLXsEZ-StI/AAAAAAAAFfg/UmzaMFmbl84/s640/photo+4.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yQuhIipuuWk/UlLX5WbFg0I/AAAAAAAAFfo/-zbg027LZVo/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yQuhIipuuWk/UlLX5WbFg0I/AAAAAAAAFfo/-zbg027LZVo/s640/photo+2.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This extremely modern urban space contrasted with this country home . . .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JCiswXdwLew/UlLYPug4v2I/AAAAAAAAFfw/t9gfyw34olY/s1600/photo+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JCiswXdwLew/UlLYPug4v2I/AAAAAAAAFfw/t9gfyw34olY/s640/photo+5.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I could be equally happy in either place. That's what I love about design . . . even if I may not consider something exactly "my style," I can appreciate it and learn from it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And speaking of design, you may have noticed that I recently had new logos designed for both the blog and my design business, and I couldn't be happier with them. Thanks so much to the talented <a href="http://bethmathews.com/" target="_blank">Beth Mathews</a> for working so hard on these for me!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope you love them as much as I do. A new website for my business is in the works that will tie in to the blog, so look for that in the weeks to come.</div>

That was my goal this afternoon. I had some time in between fabric shopping for a client and another appointment, so I hit up an antique mall. Often I'm drawn to items specifically, but sometimes it's just the vignette or combination of textures and colors that gets me.<br />
<br />
Here are some pretties that caught my eye today . . .<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p3-iaLxUKGI/UkCk4mb5drI/AAAAAAAAFdA/m-UFgPe66XQ/s1600/IMG_0543.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p3-iaLxUKGI/UkCk4mb5drI/AAAAAAAAFdA/m-UFgPe66XQ/s640/IMG_0543.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
These lucite, brass-plated and glass shelves would look amazing anywhere.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UxhJpcc0d4k/UkCk4agDPYI/AAAAAAAAFc8/YVYFZOTZ_BM/s1600/IMG_0545.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UxhJpcc0d4k/UkCk4agDPYI/AAAAAAAAFc8/YVYFZOTZ_BM/s640/IMG_0545.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
I love over-scaled sconces especially with palm fronds. I, of course, would gilt these.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3afUCbHO3Ds/UkCk3iXEdwI/AAAAAAAAFdE/Ywj0AmaWTLw/s1600/IMG_0546.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3afUCbHO3Ds/UkCk3iXEdwI/AAAAAAAAFdE/Ywj0AmaWTLw/s400/IMG_0546.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
My phone didn't capture the true vivid orange hue of these vintage barrel tub chairs with original fabric, but they were so arresting. The legs were painted to match and the brass casters finished them off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G_-wqmNu458/UkCk6fFNVwI/AAAAAAAAFdU/jjgopmtsF6o/s1600/IMG_0549.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G_-wqmNu458/UkCk6fFNVwI/AAAAAAAAFdU/jjgopmtsF6o/s640/IMG_0549.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
Awesome mid-century lamp.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GyKuyDnvIcA/UkCk7b2qa2I/AAAAAAAAFdY/DnTmUV2NRvE/s1600/IMG_0550.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GyKuyDnvIcA/UkCk7b2qa2I/AAAAAAAAFdY/DnTmUV2NRvE/s400/IMG_0550.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
Great, graphic carnival lithograph. Who doesn't need a "Freaks" sign in their home??<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eDJp8rSxxOA/UkCk85vxp9I/AAAAAAAAFdk/hM_Vegvk--Y/s1600/IMG_0552.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eDJp8rSxxOA/UkCk85vxp9I/AAAAAAAAFdk/hM_Vegvk--Y/s640/IMG_0552.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
Nice natural, masculine vignette with wood, leather and metal.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c29hYZbg9Fc/UkCk-bkjdkI/AAAAAAAAFd0/CcL6_QV3lv0/s1600/IMG_0553.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c29hYZbg9Fc/UkCk-bkjdkI/AAAAAAAAFd0/CcL6_QV3lv0/s640/IMG_0553.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
Ornate needlepoint ottoman on casters. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BoNrz8TAfZ0/UkCk_tOKL1I/AAAAAAAAFeA/tyt-0gM7mCg/s1600/IMG_0554.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BoNrz8TAfZ0/UkCk_tOKL1I/AAAAAAAAFeA/tyt-0gM7mCg/s640/IMG_0554.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
The colors in the needlepoint were so rich.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--_UKXwmk6ms/UkCk_jMk-4I/AAAAAAAAFd4/gtodrfc5MDc/s1600/IMG_0555.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--_UKXwmk6ms/UkCk_jMk-4I/AAAAAAAAFd4/gtodrfc5MDc/s640/IMG_0555.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
And speaking of colors, the orange, blues and citrus greens in this rug were amazing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y5PgYwBbfyY/UkClAQ3psWI/AAAAAAAAFeE/1khFzkvn7qk/s1600/IMG_0556.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y5PgYwBbfyY/UkClAQ3psWI/AAAAAAAAFeE/1khFzkvn7qk/s400/IMG_0556.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
Loved this trio of abstracts in different metallic frames.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Tf2UquG5ek0/UkClBYCbs4I/AAAAAAAAFeM/WIsY-cUFv0k/s1600/IMG_0557.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Tf2UquG5ek0/UkClBYCbs4I/AAAAAAAAFeM/WIsY-cUFv0k/s400/IMG_0557.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
Traditional blue and white pottery with more modern art, layered with a gold mirror and marble lamp make for an interesting mix.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-88bGT6CyHnI/UkClC_F44AI/AAAAAAAAFec/AWwSlGnlqAM/s1600/IMG_0558.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-88bGT6CyHnI/UkClC_F44AI/AAAAAAAAFec/AWwSlGnlqAM/s400/IMG_0558.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-21uZcZX7KgE/UkClChN-SEI/AAAAAAAAFeY/Qy_mve3Iu2s/s1600/IMG_0559.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-21uZcZX7KgE/UkClChN-SEI/AAAAAAAAFeY/Qy_mve3Iu2s/s400/IMG_0559.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
And just to show that anything can be art, these are chalice covers that have been framed. Having been raised Catholic, I think these might be really cool to have. So unique and graphic too. I could group them with the chalice I actually bought at an estate sale recently. I couldn't resist - I told my husband I found the holy grail. He was not amused.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-icrwItVRL_0/UkClDRqvr3I/AAAAAAAAFek/9Pb9d8_nY84/s1600/IMG_0560.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-icrwItVRL_0/UkClDRqvr3I/AAAAAAAAFek/9Pb9d8_nY84/s400/IMG_0560.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Another piece of interesting art, I'll leave you with this oversized photograph of old rope mounted under acrylic. My husband might have a similar photo somewhere. Need to go look.<br />
<br />
Did you find anything inspiring? I know I did. </div>
My Interior Lifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05521197089269607537noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6437031930570661125.post-26400957595161448652013-09-11T07:41:00.000-07:002013-09-11T10:47:18.029-07:00Quick Lamp MakeoverRecently, I grabbed a gilded tole lamp at an estate sale for a great price. While it looked a little Liberace in its original state, I could see the potential.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uWEyzO7CQzQ/UjB-PrKUqEI/AAAAAAAAFak/Xvr4k6tQpr0/s1600/oldlamp.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uWEyzO7CQzQ/UjB-PrKUqEI/AAAAAAAAFak/Xvr4k6tQpr0/s640/oldlamp.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
Simply removing the dangling crystals made a world of difference. Then I needed a new shade as I thought the old one dwarfed the lamp and dated it as well. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-32sCZkz7nMA/UjB-Zej4Q_I/AAAAAAAAFa0/EvBM9OUeIHY/s1600/shade.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-32sCZkz7nMA/UjB-Zej4Q_I/AAAAAAAAFa0/EvBM9OUeIHY/s400/shade.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I found a smaller-scaled cylindrical paper shade at our Habitat store for $12. Sold! While I thought the size and shape would work (see the older shade in the background), I prefer black shades, especially with the gold of the lamp. So, I grabbed some black acrylic paint and a paintbrush and got to work. While I considered spray painting the shade (I might have if it were a fabric shade), I wasn't sure the paper shade would hold up to that kind of saturation so I decided against it. Has anyone ever spray painted a paper shade before? </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The shade still needs a second coat of paint, but I went ahead and placed it on the lamp to see the difference. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AWtDT9gpSlo/UjB-V7bXL6I/AAAAAAAAFaw/w9hIBYYevhw/s1600/newlamp.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AWtDT9gpSlo/UjB-V7bXL6I/AAAAAAAAFaw/w9hIBYYevhw/s640/newlamp.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A little Hollywood Regency glam without the Liberace factor (nothing against Liberace, of course). What do you think?</div>

While there are no hard and fast rules, so to speak, there are some guidelines that I feel are helpful when approaching multiple patterns in a space.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_uLyjoM579w/Uh-aZj1VwZI/AAAAAAAAFWk/l3_-fw_9rWA/s1600/PHOTO+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_uLyjoM579w/Uh-aZj1VwZI/AAAAAAAAFWk/l3_-fw_9rWA/s640/PHOTO+1.jpg" width="480" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
So please head over to <a href="http://interiorcanvas.com/2013/08/pattern-play/" target="_blank">Interior Canvas </a>and check out my tips for becoming a mix master. I've been so busy blogging for others that I've kind of neglected this here blog. Sorry about that. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Speaking of "mixing," I love adding in unexpected elements in my own home. In my case, this means a lot of vintage pieces that add those all important layers in a space. Some recent finds that will make an appearance in my house soon (somewhere . . . finding the perfect spot is part of the fun) . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5pTkxywlNVM/Uh-e3lN2JpI/AAAAAAAAFWw/KBOKHEdkBeQ/s1600/lotus.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5pTkxywlNVM/Uh-e3lN2JpI/AAAAAAAAFWw/KBOKHEdkBeQ/s400/lotus.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A couple of brass lotus candle holders that I would like to convert into pendant lights, like so (although mine are a lot smaller) . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8Z5HL_0BtRw/Uh-f2mfoC5I/AAAAAAAAFXA/63kbxlSTs8Y/s1600/dining.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8Z5HL_0BtRw/Uh-f2mfoC5I/AAAAAAAAFXA/63kbxlSTs8Y/s640/dining.jpg" width="558" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/24488391697151854/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: x-small;">via</span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And another recent vintage find that I love, however quirky it may be, is a camel saddle . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bxmmAN7Jk5I/Uh-grH4S5YI/AAAAAAAAFXM/fXIf01cgEzo/s1600/saddle.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bxmmAN7Jk5I/Uh-grH4S5YI/AAAAAAAAFXM/fXIf01cgEzo/s400/saddle.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I've often spied these on eBay or Etsy but have never found one in good enough shape (with all the brass embellishments in place) to buy until now. The leather on this one is very scuffed and rough, but I love the character it provides. I think these are great as little footstools or benches or just to set some books on, like so . . . </div>

I've got more family coming in town tomorrow but hope to hit an estate sale or two before it gets too busy. If I don't make it back before the weekend, have a great one!</div>

If you're not familiar, Kim has amazing style and a great little house (that she refers to as her dollhouse) that she's been slowly but surely outfitting in glorious fashion. However, her living room and dining room are the last to feel the love so she's asked some blogger/decorator friends to provide some inspiration. Here are the pieces she requested we work into her designs . . .<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
She said not to worry about a budget (what a dream) as she's a superior shopper and can definitely find the look for less. I had such fun working on these spaces, so please go check it out <a href="http://chattafabulous.blogspot.com/2013/08/pimp-my-dollhouse-with-my-interior-life.html" target="_blank">here</a>. </div>

If you follow me on <a href="http://instagram.com/myinteriorlife#" target="_blank">Instagram</a>, you've already seen these photos, but if not, here they are - the obligatory first day shots. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JOkkduTnim4/Ugj0U8XtLDI/AAAAAAAAFSk/JYWbSaNPxeU/s1600/meg.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JOkkduTnim4/Ugj0U8XtLDI/AAAAAAAAFSk/JYWbSaNPxeU/s400/meg.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Meg is now in middle school. What the !@#$@$??? I say daily prayers that we make it through unscathed. I say "we" because I believe it may be more trying for me than her - she's always been the resilient one. I try not to weep in front of her as she hates it. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CPX1Y6s69e4/Ugj1DlbKpxI/AAAAAAAAFSw/3whsT894NVI/s1600/pierce.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CPX1Y6s69e4/Ugj1DlbKpxI/AAAAAAAAFSw/3whsT894NVI/s400/pierce.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And Pierce is now in second grade. I can't even talk about it. He wouldn't let me hold his hand as we walked into school. We're entering a new era, and I don't like it. One. Bit. So, two different schools, two different schedules. We're up an hour earlier and she gets home an hour earlier. It will take a while to get this routine down. Wish me luck. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In other news, if you been missing me on the blog you really should follow me on <a href="http://instagram.com/myinteriorlife#" target="_blank">Instagram</a>. I've finally really gotten the hang of it, and am embarrassed to say I am probably on it too much. But, it's such a fun way to get inspiration and see snippets of what others are doing. Much quicker than a blog post. Once again, I'm not an early adopter of certain technologies/programs/apps but once I do catch on, watch out. Can you say obsessive? In case you missed them, here are some shots I've recently shared . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o5uSM06FehA/Ugj-DILxY5I/AAAAAAAAFS8/iwTROOLc17A/s1600/chiavari.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o5uSM06FehA/Ugj-DILxY5I/AAAAAAAAFS8/iwTROOLc17A/s640/chiavari.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I scored a pair of these Chiavari brass chairs at an estate sale a few weeks ago. I've been coveting these for years. Not sure if I'll keep both or just one and sell the other. Decisions, decisions. Plus, the seats need to be reupholstered. Of course, these are not the most comfortable chairs but since when does that matter? But, they look so pretty pulled up at a little desk or for extra seating somewhere. Behold . . .</div>

And, my office is finally coming together after the lucite ribbon chandelier was installed (a while back, just now getting around to sharing - oops) and IKEA shelves have been painted and assembled. Now, for the styling. </div>

Well, it was actually a moving sale. A local interior designer is moving from a building with a fair amount of storage space to one that is more of a showroom, so he's paring down.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dSfWO7FklVY/UfCNChVb_RI/AAAAAAAAFRE/P5Pr_3Wqdwg/s1600/interiordesign.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dSfWO7FklVY/UfCNChVb_RI/AAAAAAAAFRE/P5Pr_3Wqdwg/s640/interiordesign.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, I grabbed a roll of Osborne & Little wallpaper, a faux tortoise frame and some fabric remnants - a couple Pierre Frey and Scalamandre's Leopardo. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Sh9ke-L-7gM/UfCZW37OMhI/AAAAAAAAFRs/Rkzk6uNju3U/s1600/leopardo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Sh9ke-L-7gM/UfCZW37OMhI/AAAAAAAAFRs/Rkzk6uNju3U/s400/leopardo.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I almost cried when another lady found a small bolt of the Leopardo. I'm thinking I can get a long lumbar pillow out of my remnant, but it's better than nothing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nFw32pBKlVM/UfCOE_Ie_LI/AAAAAAAAFRU/Ejoq8OZKKHU/s1600/wallpaper.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nFw32pBKlVM/UfCOE_Ie_LI/AAAAAAAAFRU/Ejoq8OZKKHU/s640/wallpaper.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
They only had one roll of this fabulous wallpaper. Boo. Of course, I can always order more. I'm thinking powder room or office? Hmm. Decisions are hard. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vy080j5MKMg/UfCZCtpXmZI/AAAAAAAAFRk/aYrChfcX88k/s1600/office+shelves.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vy080j5MKMg/UfCZCtpXmZI/AAAAAAAAFRk/aYrChfcX88k/s640/office+shelves.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Here's a little preview of my office. I like the wallpaper in here but I've already got a lot going on. Is it too much? A couple more snippets . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n7yo72UtOvY/UfCcAsNNOPI/AAAAAAAAFR8/XGR8I6MmZ2E/s1600/mirror.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n7yo72UtOvY/UfCcAsNNOPI/AAAAAAAAFR8/XGR8I6MmZ2E/s640/mirror.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q28SwzSetgk/UfCcH9OQ7YI/AAAAAAAAFSE/0iR7zc5b34U/s1600/desk.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q28SwzSetgk/UfCcH9OQ7YI/AAAAAAAAFSE/0iR7zc5b34U/s640/desk.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If you're interested in doing some vintage shopping of your own and are in the Nashville area, my friends Brandy and Melissa are hosting a Pop Up Shop on Friday. Check it out . . . </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nq-sE5T5QeM/UemAMRzQZsI/AAAAAAAAFPQ/D24wjiM1ewY/s1600/pie.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nq-sE5T5QeM/UemAMRzQZsI/AAAAAAAAFPQ/D24wjiM1ewY/s640/pie.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
He got a key lime pie instead of cake as that's his preference. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mt3mMLbx7rg/UegzNWE5IyI/AAAAAAAAFPA/RHKY5zqqYOA/s1600/IMG_1395.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mt3mMLbx7rg/UegzNWE5IyI/AAAAAAAAFPA/RHKY5zqqYOA/s640/IMG_1395.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Here he is doing one of his favorite things, snuggling one of our golden retrievers (this was when Zoe was a puppy and could still fit on his lap). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And earlier this month, we celebrated 16 years of marriage. For our anniversary, I got him this little <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/115638263/bill-murray-as-a-jaguar-shark" target="_blank">watercolor number from Etsy</a> (which I spied first on Pinterest thanks to <a href="http://thelittleblackdoor.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Elizabeth</a>) . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pavB-6eS110/UemGOB9zWYI/AAAAAAAAFPw/epIfDFiks3E/s1600/jagshark.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pavB-6eS110/UemGOB9zWYI/AAAAAAAAFPw/epIfDFiks3E/s400/jagshark.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It's Bill Murray's head on a jaguar shark from <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362270/" target="_blank">Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou</a>, one of his favorite movies. My favorite WA movie is probably Rushmore, while I know a lot of people are Royal Tenenbaum diehards. You can't really go wrong with any Wes Anderson films, in my opinion.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Last week, I enjoyed a little beach trip with my kids. Lots of sun and fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UVE9lWtIYK8/UemDkv1l5rI/AAAAAAAAFPg/KZvvf5Qz-SE/s1600/beach.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UVE9lWtIYK8/UemDkv1l5rI/AAAAAAAAFPg/KZvvf5Qz-SE/s640/beach.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
By the way, this is in the ocean not a pool . . . that's how clear and calm it was our last few days. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
While on my vacation, I enjoyed a couple of great books I thought I would share . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9kuoAtxI-Ks/UemJd-12g8I/AAAAAAAAFQA/66KOddGdF5U/s1600/familyfang.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9kuoAtxI-Ks/UemJd-12g8I/AAAAAAAAFQA/66KOddGdF5U/s400/familyfang.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This book actually reminded me of a Wes Anderson film with its quirky characters. It's about a husband and wife performance artist team who involve their children in their art (without their consent). Nicole Kidman has bought the film rights. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And thanks to <a href="http://mybluehydrangea.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sissy</a> for her recommendation on this one . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--gSzz9GmM18/UemKFoKJuyI/AAAAAAAAFQI/OdpZfiuf5fE/s1600/bernadette.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--gSzz9GmM18/UemKFoKJuyI/AAAAAAAAFQI/OdpZfiuf5fE/s400/bernadette.jpg" width="262" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So smart and hysterical, you won't want to put it down. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Between trips and shuttling kids to day camp, I have managed to do some vintage shopping here and there. Some of my more recent finds . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TcW4nm2hyLE/UemK92E7iMI/AAAAAAAAFQY/WbzqxyVyw9s/s1600/chandy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TcW4nm2hyLE/UemK92E7iMI/AAAAAAAAFQY/WbzqxyVyw9s/s640/chandy.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A faux bamboo tole chandelier. Probably going to sell this one. Email me if you're interested.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6nVBz3TrNPY/UemLKteBxbI/AAAAAAAAFQg/xaFf9ZRjsTc/s1600/fedmirror.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6nVBz3TrNPY/UemLKteBxbI/AAAAAAAAFQg/xaFf9ZRjsTc/s640/fedmirror.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A tiny Syroco federal style mirror. So cute. Once again, will probably sell this one. Please excuse the lovely view of my garage ceiling. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4q0kNyVWE2Q/UemLq86cqqI/AAAAAAAAFQo/_xUyp3vKJvU/s1600/lucitebase.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4q0kNyVWE2Q/UemLq86cqqI/AAAAAAAAFQo/_xUyp3vKJvU/s640/lucitebase.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
Another item up for sale, this lucite table base (has no top) for a small round table. Or I guess it could be a square table. So cool.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
And lastly, this Chinese Art Deco rug . . . a little worn but have always wanted one of these. It's an unusual color combo of olive green and gray with blue, yellow and cherry details (you see the pagoda, right?). Love it. This one's a keeper. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Hope everyone is surviving the summer heat wave!</div>

My Interior Lifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05521197089269607537noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6437031930570661125.post-50909639785824256532013-07-04T16:28:00.000-07:002013-07-04T16:28:49.163-07:00I Need Your HelpHappy 4th of July! It has rained ALL day here so I've been surfing the internet. And instead of doing a patriotic post with inspirational red, white and blue photos, I'm asking for your help on this Independence Day. There's a decision of monumental importance that lies ahead of me . . . yes, I need to pick out a new phone case.<br />
<br />
Here are some that have caught my eye in no particular order (beware, my tastes vary wildly and may seem schizophrenic).<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-66GxZkTUp3I/UdXaYbABwAI/AAAAAAAAFLY/mGX3MtvPtY4/s512/designall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-66GxZkTUp3I/UdXaYbABwAI/AAAAAAAAFLY/mGX3MtvPtY4/s400/designall.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
This one should come as no surprise as my love of malachite is no secret. And another version.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ceq7Xm2LY3c/UdX8qoLBNZI/AAAAAAAAFN4/HBALUK-e50M/s400/mal2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ceq7Xm2LY3c/UdX8qoLBNZI/AAAAAAAAFN4/HBALUK-e50M/s400/mal2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Some more interior inspired cases . . .<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sbnvpmh7GlA/UdXa-CC4bgI/AAAAAAAAFLg/kh0zlhKxhXo/s876/Milly.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sbnvpmh7GlA/UdXa-CC4bgI/AAAAAAAAFLg/kh0zlhKxhXo/s400/Milly.png" width="273" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This Milly design immediately reminded me of the famous Martinique banana leaf-patterned wallpaper by Hinson.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ES_sleo4R4A/UdXbUXRpLvI/AAAAAAAAFLo/0AbXaWSMkoc/s682/hinson-martinique-banana-leaf-wallpaper-steven-sclaroff-house-beautiful-april-2012-the-aestate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ES_sleo4R4A/UdXbUXRpLvI/AAAAAAAAFLo/0AbXaWSMkoc/s640/hinson-martinique-banana-leaf-wallpaper-steven-sclaroff-house-beautiful-april-2012-the-aestate.jpg" width="520" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SO3gKXcp_9w/UdXlepy5Q7I/AAAAAAAAFL4/fwSW6uSFYOU/s418/tortoise.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SO3gKXcp_9w/UdXlepy5Q7I/AAAAAAAAFL4/fwSW6uSFYOU/s400/tortoise.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And tortoise shell from J. Crew because, duh, it's classic. However, my current case is leopard, so it might be too similar if I want a change.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then there are the gold and white ones that are appealing to me . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qtj43lN8Es0/UdXma5ZhOsI/AAAAAAAAFMI/RpkOumeW2YA/s550/gold+chevron.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qtj43lN8Es0/UdXma5ZhOsI/AAAAAAAAFMI/RpkOumeW2YA/s400/gold+chevron.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EIWnC2_pR08/UdXvUGRFLzI/AAAAAAAAFMY/VqMEr3RQ0Sw/s296/Rif-160464-GOLD-a-tn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EIWnC2_pR08/UdXvUGRFLzI/AAAAAAAAFMY/VqMEr3RQ0Sw/s400/Rif-160464-GOLD-a-tn.jpg" width="327" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And, on the flip side are the colorful, geometric/graphic ones . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XFfe0e8oFGM/UdXwARZ7JlI/AAAAAAAAFMg/r2KqNBfoaXM/s400/scale.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XFfe0e8oFGM/UdXwARZ7JlI/AAAAAAAAFMg/r2KqNBfoaXM/s400/scale.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WC8DvF_k3VY/UdXwCg_08GI/AAAAAAAAFMo/Opyu8QsUTek/s400/triangle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WC8DvF_k3VY/UdXwCg_08GI/AAAAAAAAFMo/Opyu8QsUTek/s400/triangle.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aJ6DTwOFVfc/UdXwD3qNpfI/AAAAAAAAFMw/9fOJFUL31Q0/s400/cube.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aJ6DTwOFVfc/UdXwD3qNpfI/AAAAAAAAFMw/9fOJFUL31Q0/s400/cube.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XewjzyseRMU/UdXwYCdmiyI/AAAAAAAAFM4/8mkoQq6j-jg/s876/graphic.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XewjzyseRMU/UdXwYCdmiyI/AAAAAAAAFM4/8mkoQq6j-jg/s400/graphic.png" width="273" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then the "painterly" ones . . .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DfYnlEI2B98/UdXxAyFeFiI/AAAAAAAAFNA/eao-V3S3V_I/s570/watercolor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DfYnlEI2B98/UdXxAyFeFiI/AAAAAAAAFNA/eao-V3S3V_I/s400/watercolor.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CRgkUuf1ll0/UdX8_6rhcaI/AAAAAAAAFOA/_kA5EcoKdJ0/s400/paint2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CRgkUuf1ll0/UdX8_6rhcaI/AAAAAAAAFOA/_kA5EcoKdJ0/s400/paint2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And lastly, the somewhat whimsical . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_UQULdUiotk/UdXx-GEioJI/AAAAAAAAFNY/ac2eDAMXb8A/s250/PIC002-1-2T.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_UQULdUiotk/UdXx-GEioJI/AAAAAAAAFNY/ac2eDAMXb8A/s400/PIC002-1-2T.jpg" width="363" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eFVEEgis5fI/UdXyBthMycI/AAAAAAAAFNg/D-7MgYRU-Ak/s255/iomoi_2270_354962138.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eFVEEgis5fI/UdXyBthMycI/AAAAAAAAFNg/D-7MgYRU-Ak/s400/iomoi_2270_354962138.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
See why I'm confused?? Of course, one of my favorites is shagreen but I'm not paying over $100 for a case. But they are very cool . . .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a4lp89wCPHE/UdXyg9XS1bI/AAAAAAAAFNo/cnBZY4bHhEA/s750/shagreen_iphone5_case_0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a4lp89wCPHE/UdXyg9XS1bI/AAAAAAAAFNo/cnBZY4bHhEA/s400/shagreen_iphone5_case_0.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
There are just too many great choices out there, but I'm going to try and narrow it down and pick soon. Any favorites? Please help.</div>
