A Belated After

Since I finished painting my dining room about two weeks ago, I figured I would go ahead and show you some after photos. We moved the furniture, rug, mirror, art and accessories back in, but I sent the draperies off to be dry-cleaned before I affix the Greek Key trim (which I still need to order). So, I just didn't show that unfinished side of the room. Without further ado, here it is . . .
Just as a reminder, here's what it looked like before . . . 
I love the richness of the deep, saturated Champion Cobalt (Benjamin Moore) paint. It makes the mirror, art and furniture really stand out.
As I mentioned, I still have to finish and hang the curtains, and of course, it will never be totally done as I keep getting new ideas. Exhibit A:
Wouldn't a little Chiang Mai on the side chairs just kick it up another notch? I know, I'm crazy. I'll leave it be for now.  I'll be sure to show the other side of the room (which is just a window) once the curtains are finished and hung. Unless I change my mind about them. Just kidding.

    Your room is magazine worthy , Domino :) the blue makes all the difference. I sy YES to Chiang Ming on the chair!

    It looks amazing! I would never have chosen that color blue, but now that I see it on a wall, I think I need to have it in my house somewhere!

    I think my favorite part of the room is the white mirror against the blue wall!

    Kathy, it looks amazing! Seriously, this is a perfect example of what paint can do - your room looks completely transformed. Everything pops - chairs, mirror, fabric. Great choice & decision!!

    Oh, the choice to go with this rich blue was perfect! And it seems like redecorating a room is like a can of worms...always some new, great idea pops up!

    And how did the child labor thing work out for you?

    Amazing what a difference a deep color can make! Everything else just sings. I went navy in my guest room and it's so dramatic. Also, LOVE the chiang mai with the blue, for sure! Ah, the domino effect!

    All I can say is WOW. I thought it was pretty before. Didn't quite understand why you were messing with a good thing. Now I get it!!! It's incredible. And yes, Chiang Ming would look amazing. Thanks for sharing! - Allison

    Love the new paint color! It makes everything pop! And I also love your idea of reupholstering those dining chairs with the Chiang Mai fabric in the future! It will looks absolutely fantastic with your new wall color, I am sure!

    Oooooooooh looks reaaaaaally good. Even though the chiang mai has been overdone I think it would look awesome on those chairs against the wall color. Do it, ill help if you needs any.

    Beautiful. I am now inspired, and I love the Chiang Mai on the chairs. However, if you do that, I think you'll have to at least reupholster the backs of the wingback chairs (even just in a white fabric) because the beige and Chiang Mai clash a little). and by the way, I just got back from Chiang Mai, Thailand, so now I think I need to get a little of that going in my house!

    Thank you SO much for all your sweet comments! I really appreciate your support of my "blue period." While Chiang Mai Dragon has been a bit overexposed over the past couple of years in the blogosphere, I still love it after all this time, and I think it fits my aesthetic. And, Jenny B., I had actually thought of possibly doing Chiang Mai on the back of my host and hostess chairs but that will be a much bigger expense not just because of the yardage but because of the upholsterer I would need to hire (I can do the dining side chairs myself as I did before). There is actually a beige running through the middle of the dragon that matches my chairs almost perfectly, so I'm not too worried.

    Slam dunk, Kathy! I think its gorgeous. I barely noticed the mirror before and now its stunning. Love your bamboo table. I've been collecting loads of bamboo items too.

    The chiang mai would be quite pretty, but you have to consider what they would do to your head chairs. One little change makes you want to make a few more right?

    (totally not dissing the head chairs btw!)

    Holy Cow! It's stupendous. The wall color absolutely makes your room come alive and really creates the most beautiful backdrop for all of your lovely things. I say, yes(!) to the fabric. It would be the icing on the cake!

    Chiang Mai, just about my all time fave fabric.... it would look superb on the chairs... yes indeed!

    The room is certainly dramatic and vivacious and full of life.... just wonderful.
