Color Story

For some time now, I've had this rug in my living/family room. I believe it's been both a blessing and a curse.
Don't get me wrong. I love the colors in it, but they change from one end to the other, as all Persians do. It can be a bit tricky.
Plus, the colors look different in different light. So, I've basically come to peace with the fact that it's got a lot of pink and green it it. Sometimes the pink looks coral, sometimes it looks rosy. Sometimes the green looks emerald, sometimes it looks teal.

So, where am I going with this? Well, I've been looking for fabrics for my Milo Baughman-esque Craigslist chair for some time now, and when dear Emily from Recently suggested pink - a lightbulb went off. Yes, pink. Well, coral or raspberry or azalea or punch, if you're my husband. We can't actually call it pink. So the search was on. Here are some of the fabrics I found . . .
And then these . . .

Did you get a good look at that last Duralee fabric? Oh, yeah, one of my dogs nibbled on it last night while I wasn't looking.
Nice. Guess I'll be paying for that sample.

I actually liked this fabric the best, but it's on backorder for 6 weeks. Uggh. I hate waiting. So, I'm still looking. Or maybe I should just order it and wait patiently. Decisions.
In the meantime, I found a pretty mallard green velvet lumbar pillow at World Market that might look nice either in the chair (once it's recovered) or on my slipper chairs or sofa. Just thought the color was pretty good.
I also recently ordered one of those marbled handmade papers from Paper Mojo. It has a lot of the same pretty pinks and greens running through it. Thinking of either framing it or using it behind the shelves in my grandmother's china cabinet.
Here it is tacked on top of my emperor just to see what it might look like on the wall . . .
Call it pink and green or punch and mallard, I don't care. I'm just loving this updated take on the classic, often characterized as preppy color combo.

Here are some sophisticated pink and green or simply pink inspirations that are on my Pinterest page . . .

The lines of these pink chairs are not unlike my chair, and I have that same brass garden seat.

So, what do you think? Does pink have to prissy and delicate or can it be sophisticated and rich? I'm leaning toward the latter.

I have two similar chairs and am actually in the process of getting rid of the pink fabric they came in! Granted mine are more 1980's pink... I'm interested to see how yours turn out!

Oh, the raspberry is so yummy. I love it, Kathy. And I think your puppy likes it too, hence the chew!

And though 6 weeks seems like a long time, if it's really the fabric you want, I say wait for it. You'll be happier in the end.

I'm so jazzed about seeing these chairs upholstered, I can't even tell you.

You are totally going in the right direction! Those chairs will be amazing in pink and this room will be so sophisticated...very palm springs-prep. Trust your gut...you have great taste.

The Duralee Azalea color is great. Not overly girlie, ya know? And if you love something, then I'd wait six weeks to have what I want :)

I think the paper framed in that corner will look great with the recovered chair and velvet pillow. I'm pretty partial to pinks and greens though :)

I am LOVING my pink and green living room. I was worried about the raspberry curtains being too much for my son and manly man hubs but decided it would be my room and I would do what makes me happy. Believe it or not, my husband (who never notices anything, noticed the changes and is loving the updates AND now spends his mornings in the pink and green living room because "it's so cozy".

You won't regret it!

I LOVE pink and green! My daughters' room was supposed to be pink and green, but somehow it didn't want to be. It still has both colors, but also teal and brown.

Anyway, like I said, LOVE the combo, especially when gone sophisticated and in a grown up space!

The color will look great against your walls! Oh, and btw,if you ever need more of the marbled paper, Jerry's Artarama in Hickory Hollow has them. Looking good!

Yay! I'm glad you like my idea ;) I think you should wait on the Azalea. What's six more weeks for a lifetime of beauty?! And the marbled paper above the chair? Amazing. Although this won't surprise you, I've been eyeing that same paper and pillow. Great minds...

You knocked this design dilemma right out of the ballpark. I adore your pink (don't tell your husband) options and the photos to support your sophisticated and rich leanings. I am inspired. Like you, I have some persian rug action going on in my house. Time to revaluate my digs? Maybe.

I have some marbled paper from paper mojo in a different color and I loooove it! I divided it in half and hung it in two frames vertically over eachother next to my bedroom door. If that pink fabric is the one you like best you should just wait for it to come in. Anytime I've tried to find something else I like as much I end up going back to my first choice and delaying the process even longer. Indecision is a bitch!

ohhhh...yes. color me pink. I adore it. I think it's totally sophisticated especially as you've shown it here. Not 80's preppy at all.
