I finally got around to hanging some art in the "pink chair" corner, including my husband's Chinese Woman on Bike photo.
And do you remember the Moroccan-shaped table that I found in a junk shop for $10?
Well, after waffling over what color to go with, I finally chose black with gold accents (surprise, surprise). I just added the accents with a gold-leaf pen . . . super easy.
For the salon or gallery wall (I almost hesitate to use that term anymore because it seems so trendy), I used art I already owned (the women) mixed in with a framed lithograph from an art book I picked up at an estate sale along with some recycled art in bamboo frames. So, what is recycled art? It's my term for taking a rather lackluster piece of art with a decent frame from a thrift store and painting right over it. Observe. This . . .
Native dancing ladies weren't really my style but I liked the faux bamboo frame despite it's anemic yellow color. |
Turned into this . . .
So, here's the before of that corner . . .
And once again, the after . . .
Much better, right? Not to mention what a difference the refinished floors make. Ahh. Oh, and I've got some other little odds and ends to share (including my newly upholstered x bench that didn't make it in these photos as I just got it back late last week), but I'll save that for another post as your interest may be waning about right now.

Looks great, Kathy! The pink in the Chinese Lady photo pulls perfectly with the chair.

Love it Kathy! It looks awesome. I seriously want the Asian lady on the bicycle piece. - Brandy
AWESOME outcome! Love the gallery wall. Painting over art--why didn't I think of that. I have a large picture that is broken and bound for Goodwill. Now, voila, I shall attempt a masterpiece. Enjoy the party!
Interest waning? Hardly! It looks so good and who knew you were an Artiste! Your painting is wonderful and the lady on the bicycle rules!
Love me a gallery wall! I don't know which one is my favorite because they are all amazing.
that pink chair is IT!
Love the corner...and yes I won't use gallery wall but beautiful wall full of interesting art work.
What? That pink chair is dreamy I tell you! And I love the art wall and table makeover. I have one similar in my booth that I tried to sell unpainted but I may have to copy your black and gold idea! Keep up the good work!

and your new doors and your house overall.
it's so big!!!!
Your husband photo is so beautiful, and I love how it works with the chair. Your choice of colors on the table are perfect. I need to remember how trimming something in gold can make such a big difference and bring out the details!
The corner looks great!
I hope you flipped that artwork and painted on the back. I couldn't see if it was a Bernard Hoyes original.
looks fab! i have 3 of those parsons chairs AND a pair of those pillows! i knew i liked your style :)
