This is my first time using Skitch. Have you tried it? |
Anyway, just wanted to share the sofa love. And speaking of sharing the love, Ashley from Meet Me in Philadelphia was kind enough to nominate me for a Stylish Blogger Award. Thanks so much, Ashley! I just ran across Ashley's blog recently, and I am loving her style . . . I think we are kindred spirits. You must visit her blog if you have not. Check out the adorable chair and curtains in her blog header . . . you just know it's going to be good.
Since I was fortunate enough to receive this award earlier in the week, I won't bore you with 7 more things about me. I'll just say thanks again, Ashley for thinking of me!
And as this is turning out to be a rather random post, I'll just share a couple of things I found while poking around on Friday once my daughter finally went back to school after almost a week off for the snow/ice.
Of course, I hit the Habitat store and found this . . .
Asian-style coffee table. This would be great painted/lacquered any color - I would do white or black. I think it was about $60.
It reminded me of a coffee table makeover I just saw on The Huntress Lives. Here's her coffee table that got a makeover. The before:
And, after:
And I found these . . .
a pair of temple jar lamps. While they've been hanging around the Habitat shop for a while (I can only imagine it's because of their less than flattering rust-brown color), they're a great shape and size. Plus, there are two of them . . . I love pairs of things. They've been marked down to about $12 each. Paint them the color of your choice and with the right shades, they'd be perfect on a console table or sideboard.
Hope everyone is enjoying a happy weekend!

Ooh, I just looked up skitch. I'd never heard of it. Thanks for sharing.
Dang...I WISH I lived in Charlotte!!! I want that. And those Asian pieces...I would love the two end tables for two coffee tables...You find some great stuff!
Charlotte has a lot of Danish Modern too...We always find stuff that we can't pick up there! About the Asian pieces...my mom has quite a bit in that style. It was my grandmother's. It is in terrible shape, but I salvaged it from "the great purge" when mom moved with us. I can't wait to give it some attention when the weather gets warmer!
Thanks so much for the comment - thrilled to find your blog!! I'm your newest follower. And the settee...I'm 40 minutes from Charlotte. May have to look into this one!!
i am calling to see if the Habitat store still has that coffee table - love it!
Erica, I love chinoiserie/Asian stuff so I would be all over that stuff too. My Design Chic, please get that settee and share photos. And BK, you better get that coffee table - I can come visit it!
Hmmmm... I wonder how far Charlotte is from Wilmington (3 hours?) I would grab that coffee table in a heart beat. If only I had a place to put it... Great Finds in Charlotte! -Ann
Kathy,
Hi! It's Laurie.....It was so nice to meet you today!....What a small world!!!.....I saw those lamps at Habitat 2 weeks ago and was thinking the same thing - painted would be perfect!!...Did you see the gold Henredon sofa and chair?....They were $$$$ - I think $1000 and $450....Pricey, but at 80% off would be fun to recover....I would love to meet up sometime to go junking!!!....Just email....cianmc@comcast.net
did you get them or do i need to jump in the car? PS I am on the hunt for bamboo for the store in Chattanooga.
Just found you and am so impressed - you've got some serious Habitat/Ebay/Craigs SKILZ!!
Looking forward to keeping up with you!
Hi love your blog and I am now a follower. I have never heard of the "Habitat Store", where is it? Is it a National Chain? I would love to know!
Thanks everyone. I just stopped back by the Habitat store today and the coffee table was GONE but the side tables are still there (maybe BK or Kayce got it?)! Tiernan, sorry for the confusion, it's just the Habitat for Humanity Thrift store here in Nashville I'm referring to. It's sort of along the lines of Goodwill and Salvation Army, but typically I find better stuff there. Thanks again!
