I decided to go with a green ribbon this year instead of my usual red. Not sure why, I just liked it. I'm thinking of possibly sticking some white berries in the wreath for a little contrast as well.
Of course, I still need to add some seasonal greenery and berries in my urns and a garland around the door to which I usually add white lights. All in due time, along with the tree which will be a Saturday project.
Another sign the holidays are coming is the arrival of this little guy . . .
Yes, it's the Elf on the Shelf, or in this case, the Elf in the paperwhites. His name is Elfie (my kids aren't that original with names). And while he may be the bane of my existence (as he, ahem, flies off to the North Pole every night and then shows up in a different spot EVERY morning), my kids love him. They were counting down the days to his arrival. How can you disappoint these sweet faces?
Elfie the rock star. The kids had to pose with him. They left him a cookie before school. |
Elfie showed up in a dense fog and brought the frost with him.

In other totally unrelated news, today I bought this fabric . . .
It was $8.99 a yard. Holla. It's going on these stools that I have had forever.
I kept moving them around my house, and then changing my mind about fabric. Design ADD is real, people. They're now at the end of my bed awaiting their makeover (along with the rest of my house room).
Is anyone else sprucing up their spaces for the holidays?

Girl that fabric is awesome! Where do you go for fabric in Nashville. I might hit the fabric store next to that meridian furniture store tomorrow. Im looking for plaid fabric for a small ottoman.
Beautiful blog kathy....excellent posts...i am following....
Love the wreath, very into the natural earthy look, adorable kids and awesome fabric!!
Girl...that fabric is amazing. Those stools will be fantastic. Can't wait to see the after pic.
I am trying to spruce up my space for Christmas. Wreaths made of natural greens were hung in the three window behind my couch in the living room. BTW, I also tied mossy green satin ribbons similar to what you used on your front door wreath. Great minds?
That mossy green color floats my boat and goes with almost every interior (the color of nature).
Please post more photos as you progress.

love that fabric--it will be GREAT on those stools! We're having a tree trimming party, which means my long list of projects suddenly got a short deadline. Nothing like having lots of people over to light a fir under you!
Second Bri's question. Gotta be another discount place other than Fabric Gallery and Sirs...
Looking good!
I am right there with you with the design ADD. I have the very same impairment.
I also hang a boxwood wreath with greenery around my front door lit w/white lights. I absolutely LOVE the coziness of the look. There is only one place near me that I know of that sells the boxwood wreaths and every year I go back holding my breath that they will have them. So far so good. Phew!
Trying to get there with Christmas decorations so all other projects are on hold at the moment. BTW, I am loving the lines of those stools and they are going to be fantastic in that fabric. Why can't I find amazing fabric at that price when I'm on the hunt??!!! M.
Busy girl! I wholeheartedly approve of the fabric score and the general merriment going on over at your place. Also, the white berries will look fab in the wreath. Do it!
Your kids left Elfie a cookie before school? God, that's adorable. Now, back to important decor matters: that fabric is fab!!
I cannot wait to see the ottomans when you're done with them.
Elfie kinda reminds me of the gnome in the Travelocity commercials.
Those stool are going to be da bomb!
So cute! I have little ceramic elves with that same face. The house is looking beautiful!!
The stools are perfect at the foot of your bed! I'm also cracking up because I've been putting off unveiling our Elf for the very reason you mentioned. ;)
I SO wish I had time to spruce up my digs for the holidays... how bad is that? I have't had an ounce of time so far ... but you are doing a lovely job my dear. love that fabric! and the price! :) happy holidays!
