Photo Dump

I hate to put the word dump in my post title, but there it is. I downloaded photos from my phone yesterday after a few recent scouting trips for either myself or others, so thought I would share what I found impressive enough to photograph. First up, a store called Merridian. I don't go in there very often, but they usually have some nice pieces like these chocolate velvet tufted chairs. Yummy. They were super comfortable too.
They also had these interesting little gingko leaves to use as trays or wall art.
Some cool pillows from Ryan Studios. I saw this vendor at High Point. Good stuff.
Greek Key rug, Frenchy chairs.
Vintage Chinese dragon rug. A little pricey but very unique.
A great geometric rug in citron and gray. A very now color combination.

Next, I wouldn't be me if I didn't hit a thrift store, so here's what I found at the Habitat Home store . . .
Some sort of hybrid campaign/bamboo furniture. Can't decide if I like it or not. Hmm.

I've been drawn to a lot of green pieces lately. This moire fabric armchair was in really good shape except for some wear on the arms. And look, it's by Hickory Chair. Not bad for $50.
See, another green chair. I like the nailheads. Very regal looking. Not my style but could be a stand-out in the right space.

A few days later, I was in Belle Meade waiting for a prescription so I poked around at some of their consignment and antique shops. Belle Meade is a very nice (read: wealthy) part of town, so this is not necessarily where you look for bargains but instead investment pieces.

First, the Stock Market Consignment Shop had this beauty.
Again, with the green. Sorry, but I could not resist. Look at all the beautiful details on this piece . . .

This piece was originally a radio cabinet but the most recent owners used it as a bar - they sound like my kind of people. The cabinet opens on one side and swivels on the base. I've never seen anything quite like it. Oh, and it's only green on one side. Crazy. But I think I'm in love with it.
The inside could use some work. Wish I had gotten a better shot of how it swivels, but trust me, it's cool.

Next, I stopped in the Shoppes of Belle Meade, their antique mall. Some seriously pretty things for seriously nice prices.
The wood on this chest of drawers was stunning.
Loved the shape of these chairs. And the antique tapestry thrown over one had the most amazing colors in it.

A wavy horn mirror.
See, I'm not the only one who likes dolphins.
Theirs are a lot pricier than mine.
Huge, dramatic carved wooden urns. Would make quite a statement in the right space.
Pretty pillow.
Couldn't resist these beautiful boxes.
A Chinese Chippendale chair. I also can't resist chinoiserie.

Hoofed tables are all the rage too.
More green.

And the detail on this chair about killed me it was so pretty. As was the coral silk fabric and the shape. Maybe one day.
And last but not least, more green!

Hope you enjoyed what caught my eye . . . a little virtual shopping spree. Have you seen any goodies lately?

Love the One You're With

Confused by the title? Stick with me. First and foremost, thank you SO much to everyone who came to our Nashville Blogger Tag Sale this Saturday! Bri, ModFruGal, SquirrelPearl and I had a blast hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones.
Stole this photo from ModFruGal as I forgot my camera. Typical.
Also, thank you to all the Nashville bloggers who gave us a shout out on their own blogs including sweet Ceri Hoover of Cooper-Grey whom we had the pleasure of meeting on Saturday, and Kayce Hughes who is always so kind and supportive. Other bloggers on the scene included Melissa of the Insane Domain (who purchased some of Bri's fabulous art) and Kim Biggs of Kim Biggs Design (who purchased some of my fabric), both of whom I've had the honor of getting to know recently. All in all, such a fun (but exhausting) day!

Lots of people came out to see what we had to offer, and while I sold quite a bit, I made it home with a lot of stuff too (dolphin table, anyone?). So, I've got a new strategy - "Love the one you're with." Haven and Home has a series of this name where she features bloggers who are doing exactly that - working with what they've got and loving it. So, here's what I've got . . . a lot of rust and black.
Once again, please excuse my hot mess of a garage as a backdrop.
When I moved a lot of the pieces back into my garage that I didn't sell (or chose not to sell like the Mastercraft black lacquer credenza), I realized it all looked pretty good together. Rust and black emerged as the color palette with hints of green and white. New basement room direction? I think so.
The amazing samurai needlepoint juxtaposed with the rust velvet curtains that used to be in my dining room.

Oil painting with hints of rust.

Here are just a few rust and black inspired interiors to get my juices flowing . . .

Definitely some food for thought. Are you using what you've got and loving the ones you're with?

Thanks again for all the support on our Tag Sale. I've received so many emails asking how it went and asking about certain items. I even pre-sold one piece thanks to my preview pics (thanks, Amanda, your bird print will get to you shortly)!

The $14 Blog Post

Today, after mistakenly thinking the flea market was this weekend at the fairgrounds, I stumbled upon an antique show I had never been to or even heard of before - something called the Tailgate Antique Show and Antiques at Music Valley. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind, and at $14 to get in, it was a little more than I wanted to pay, but what the hell. Here's what I found:

The show is apparently geared toward "country" antiques which thankfully encompasses a lot more these days than it used to (as evidenced by the new Country Living I just picked up the other day at the store). I enjoyed meeting a few of the vendors and learning some new things. And even if the merchandise was not all my taste, I did find some cool things.
This huge iron circle (not sure of its origin) would be great with a mirror placed in it.
Huge wood sculpture. Wish I had space for this.
Fantastic old, weathered Chesterfied sofa. Swoon.
Didn't love the fluted glass shades on this light fixture but did love the fixture itself. Such great, clean lines.
Old post office desk. How cool is this?
Some large orange container. Just fun.
I know I've seen some similar botanical charts floating around design publications and blogs.
Industrial light fixtures. Loving the green.

Modern rustic chic. I just made that term up.

Just loved this. Beautiful wood, great lines.

More cool industrial-looking stuff.

Gorgeous bombe chest from the 1700's. This and the chairs below came out of the dealer's home. Apparently, his wife decided they needed to redecorate. She sounds like me. I just need to start a business to unload all my old stuff.
One of a pair of pumpkin orange French leather chairs. So unique and pretty. Also pretty expensive. Don't know if I happened to mention but basically everything here was way out of my price range. Remember, I thought I would be flea market shopping, not antique shopping.

The following photos are all from the same booth, and I loved just about everything in it. Interestingly enough, the guy working the booth couldn't have cared less that I was there and didn't offer any help or even look up from what he was reading. Can you see the giant golf ball in the reflection of the mirror? The guy was hiding behind it. Coward.
Loved the desk lamp and the GRAND sign, of course. That is definitely a statement piece.

And, some other random things that caught my eye . . .
I have absolutely no idea what this is, but it has real oyster shells as handles and feet, a ceramic crab on top, and it's a beautiful green color. Conversation starter for sure.
Just because I like portraits. They're oh so serious.
A really pretty blue chest.
Graphic orange tables would be great used together as a console or as bedside tables.
Huge blue cabinet. Anywhere.

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!
