Love the One You're With

Confused by the title? Stick with me. First and foremost, thank you SO much to everyone who came to our Nashville Blogger Tag Sale this Saturday! Bri, ModFruGal, SquirrelPearl and I had a blast hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones.
Stole this photo from ModFruGal as I forgot my camera. Typical.
Also, thank you to all the Nashville bloggers who gave us a shout out on their own blogs including sweet Ceri Hoover of Cooper-Grey whom we had the pleasure of meeting on Saturday, and Kayce Hughes who is always so kind and supportive. Other bloggers on the scene included Melissa of the Insane Domain (who purchased some of Bri's fabulous art) and Kim Biggs of Kim Biggs Design (who purchased some of my fabric), both of whom I've had the honor of getting to know recently. All in all, such a fun (but exhausting) day!

Lots of people came out to see what we had to offer, and while I sold quite a bit, I made it home with a lot of stuff too (dolphin table, anyone?). So, I've got a new strategy - "Love the one you're with." Haven and Home has a series of this name where she features bloggers who are doing exactly that - working with what they've got and loving it. So, here's what I've got . . . a lot of rust and black.
Once again, please excuse my hot mess of a garage as a backdrop.
When I moved a lot of the pieces back into my garage that I didn't sell (or chose not to sell like the Mastercraft black lacquer credenza), I realized it all looked pretty good together. Rust and black emerged as the color palette with hints of green and white. New basement room direction? I think so.
The amazing samurai needlepoint juxtaposed with the rust velvet curtains that used to be in my dining room.

Oil painting with hints of rust.

Here are just a few rust and black inspired interiors to get my juices flowing . . .

Definitely some food for thought. Are you using what you've got and loving the ones you're with?

Thanks again for all the support on our Tag Sale. I've received so many emails asking how it went and asking about certain items. I even pre-sold one piece thanks to my preview pics (thanks, Amanda, your bird print will get to you shortly)!

Tag

Yes, I'm doing more shameless promotion for our Tag Sale coming up next Saturday, October 1. Just a reminder . . .
And here are some recent goodies I found for the sale. I'm shopping for you, people. All very selfless I assure you.
Brass pagoda lamp.

Brass garden seat.

Large blue coral. Set it anywhere.
But, if you can't wait till next Saturday, there's another "tag" in town. Recently, another mom friend of mine opened her own shop called "tag" in the Bellevue area of Nashville.
Her concept is very cool . . . her shop is open every other week on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays . . . sort of like a flea market or tag sale. The other weekends, she's out scouting finds to fill the shop. Jennifer has a wonderful eye and likes Chinoiserie/Chinese Chippendale as much as I do. No wonder I like her. Here are some of her recent treasures.
This pagoda mirror is to die for, and it's at a fabulous price.
The interior of her shop is a beautiful pink. Even the floor is pink. It truly sets off the merchandise. My sad iPhone photos do not do the color justice (sorry, it almost looks orange in some pictures). To give you a better idea, the store immediately reminded me of this fabulous entry in House Beautiful . . .
More of the items up for sale . . .

So, the next time "tag" is open is tomorrow, Thursday, September 22. If you're in the Nashville area, you should definitely stop in!

Next Design Capital: Nashville

Have you heard? Nashville is the next big thing in design. Oh yes. First off, there's this fabulous event coming soon . . .
That's right, the Tag Sale I've been teasing all these weeks has finally been set. Mark your calendars and plan your road trips accordingly. This is a don't-miss sale with goods from some of the most savvy Nashville bloggers out there - Me, You and a Wiener, ModFruGal and SquirrelPearl/Acorn + Archer (oh, and me too). It will be in a parking lot (I know, fancy), so hopefully the weather will cooperate.

In other news, while watching HGTV last night (which I don't do very often, so excuse me if this is old news), I saw a preview of a "sneak peek" of a new show that will debut next year (I think) called Interiors, Inc. It was so brief, I couldn't tell much about it, like where it was based. My curiosity piqued, I, of course, looked for more information online. It turns out, it's set in Nashville! Oh yes, the new design mecca. After further investigation, I found out it follows the crew at Pierce & Co. on their decorating escapades around town. I used to stop in Pierce & Co. when my hair salon was next door (my stylist moved a while back so I don't drop in like I used to). Here's a clip from the show . . .

It's a very cool store (not sure why they feel the need to call it a gallery) with some interesting things - all a bit pricey. If memory serves, they carry Jonathan Adler, Oly Studios, Lee Industries and maybe Arteriors Home, among other lines. After doing a little further digging on owner Jonathan Pierce, I found out he used to be a Christian Music artist (there are a lot of those around Nashville because it is Music City and all), then decided to open his design business about 10 years ago. As you might expect, he has some connections and thus some bigwig clients.

So, the sneak preview premieres tonight at 10/9, Central on HGTV right after Design Star (yikes). I'll be tuning in if nothing else to see my city featured.

Hope everyone has enjoyed a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Tag - You're It!

I'm starting to appreciate "tag" more as an adult (never my favorite game as a child). My friend Becky got an email invitation today to another fabulous "tag sale," so she of course forwarded it to me knowing I love a good bargain. This one looks promising (if you're in the Nashville area on Saturday) - she had me at Antique Indonesian Day Bed from ABC Carpet and Home.
Where: Tyler's House
1504 Cedar Lane
When:   June 26th 9am - 12pm

Maybe I'll see you there . . .

In other, totally unrelated news, we had a box turtle show up at our front door today (literally). My daughter, the fearless one, picked him up immediately causing him to retreat back within his shell - poor guy. But, he popped back out later to make his escape and I caught a photo of him:
Isn't his shell beautiful? I actually had the horrible thought that should he happen to meet his untimely demise I wouldn't mind having his shell to display. I know . . . I'm a horrible person. Please don't call PETA. Plus, I wouldn't harm him now that he's an official member of the family (albeit one who lives outside permanently). We named him Terrence.

I think the heat drove him out of his usual stomping grounds. I know it's about to drive me crazy. Here's hoping cooler weather (or at least less humid weather) is on the way soon.
